Has Dembele surpassed Countinho in importance?

I'm not sure what is up with Messi. He has the lowest work rate I know in professional football players but recently he's not been sprinting at all. Does he have an injury or just getting old?

As a winger, he always was tbh. Coutinho is a terrible winger. Certainly reminds me of a lesser Pedro Rodriguez without his work rate and getting into good positions.

Probably a little bit of both + loss of drive and ambition.

The only coach who would probably be able to get him to work a little harder would be Pep.

He started getting lazy during Guardiola's final year actually.

Coutinho should not be playing on the wing at all for us.

He isn't. He was meant to play the Iniesta role until Dembélé started having KFC and FIFA nights and was replaced by Coutinho on the wing.

Not that he was good at the Iniesta role but certainly had some impact on the games whereas now he is completely useless.

That's not true though, 2012 when Pep was on his way out was Messi's best calendar year ever.

Coutinho isn't flopping. He's just been injured, thats all. This was like his second game post-injury

Yeah I wouldn't call him a flop, he's done good for us, but he should NOT play on the wing. Anywhere else but there.

Every player has one reason to work hard. Young players and new transfers to prove themselves, Suarez, Rakitic to stay in the team, Alba and Semedo not to be replaced by Roberto and Malcom. Now tell me why 5 times ballon dor winner should work hard against 17 th team in the liga at age of 32? he will work hard only in important matches in CL. Actually he already did it and all of you praised him for that

You can say that if he has no motivation then let him sit on the bench in unimportant matches. But he sells tickets. and needs some stats to compete in ballon dor race. is it really hard to understand? you bring this topic it every time

People underestimate the importance of unadulterated raw speed on the wings. It opens up space for everything. Even at City, Sterling and Sane really open a lot up for Pep's team.

He didn’t look too shabby. Scored a goal, as well. A lot of people seem to expect no less than elite quality, successfully making their way up from youth academies of top teams, but the loyal, Nacho/Vasques types definitely have their uses, even if they’re not necessarily starter material. I think many people underestimate the importance of solid squad depth, these days.

Too many fans treat real football like Football Manager, where they want 25 world class players in their first teams. it's dumb.

Tell me about it nothing realistic about half these posts, and they clearly think they know more than the club itself.

Disgusting refereeing in the Alaves/Sevilla match.

Literally couldn't touch an Alaves player without them flopping to the floor and buying a foul from an all-too generous ref.

It continually plays into the hands of these plucky teams who just want the game to be interrupted every 30 seconds. Its infuriating.

Madrid have the 3 easiest games coming up: Huesca (#20), Rayo (#19) and Villarreal (#17). They are 1st place after January 3rd, mark my words
