It will be a disaster, much more so than Coutinho. Griezmann is not a number 9 who can play ahead of Messi. He likes to operate more or less in the same areas as Messi. 1. His buyout clause is 100m
2. The video he made last summer
3. Suarez and Messi aren’t getting benched and it’s pretty apparent the club intends to keep Suarez until next summer. So signing a player of Griezemans profile means he would be the starting LW and wouldn’t shift to be the 9 until the following season. So Dembélé would get be benched until then. Would rather they try for Jovic and have him learn from Suarez and rotate with him a full season while Dembele continues starting on the wing.
4. Signing a young hot prospect like Jovic shows we are truly rebuilding for the future. Signing a 28 year old to replace a 32 year old isnt. Would just be more of the same going forward imo

Apparently Iñaki Williams has a simile buyout clause to Greizeman and is 24.  Would you rather him or Greizeman as our future 9 after next season when Suarez leaves? There is also Jovic who is 21. Other striker names mentioned are also Pepe from Lillie who is 23 and Leo also from Lille who is 19. You also got Jao Felix who is 19 and that same young group Lautoro Martinez who is 21 and Kean from Juve who is 19, and Timo Werner who is 23, and why not, Martial 23 and Rashford 21


Idk just tossing names that are young strikers and have af some point been linked with us. What striker if any of those would y’all want?

I wouldnt mind Grizemann, same as I thought last summer, hes too good a player to just ignore, even if he overlaps with Messi, hes good enough to adjust to play in another position, and his link play and abilities means he could probably work up a good chemistry with Messi.

I think Lacazette has also been mentioned? I think hes very good, but more of a penalty box guy and finished, not too sure about his all round game. Not sure if Arsenal would sell him though, his partnership with Aubameyang has been great for them, and probably Aubameyang would be the better player anyway

Ianki is good but not 120m good. None of youngsters are a finished article so its a gamble. Jovic is almost confirmed to Madrid. Still think, if there is a chance Mbappe can be enticed, we play the waiting game and save the money.

With those three + Lacazette and Pogba rumored, this window doesn't REALLY look that bad. But unless Valverde leaves, no transfer will matter IMO.

Going by rumors it does sound we want to add another midfielder besides D Jong, which leads me to believe Rakatic is definitely out but the names that have popped are Rodri from Atletico and van de Beek. Pogba is asking for insane wages and his agent is Riola who’s already given us a hard time getting De Ligt

I'm not sure about the Lyon duo they have signed, every time I watched Lyon they looked underwhelming at best.

Militão and Rodrygo look good and I can't praise Hazard enough. He would have been the natural replacement for Neymar instead of the numpties you signed.

Jović is too young and untested for the money Madrid will be asked to pay for his services. From my experience, strikers who bloom early don't go far in their careers. So I would much rather get someone like Piątek (although he is more of a poacher). And the Jović -Suárez comparisons are completely blown out of proportion. The guy has played top level football for one season ffs

Apparently Juanfran leaving is now confirmed lol they basically have to replace the entire back line, front line and add depth to the midfield line

FDJ is a great transfer. We need a Busquets replacement sooner rather than later.
MDL, I am not so sure but I can still understand. He is considered a generational defender and the thinking seems to be that he is too good to miss out on. I would much rather test Todibo and save the money but still understandable.

Griezman is just a waste of money. Doesnt make sense from either a sporting or economic standpoint. He doesnt fit in a Messi led Barca, will command enormous wages. Just doesnt make sense.
