Arquitescu wrote:Insanity how Giampaolo and Sarri, both compared to each other in their attacking system, refreshing positive football wit and to each other;

both begin their Serie A campaigns with the most uninspiring and rigid line-ups possible.

Maybe they are alike in that sense too.

Either way, hope to at least see some positive attacking notes this coming match.

To be fair Sarri was not there
They went for the safe option

Can't believe Milan still starts Calanoglu and Castillejo

Oddly enough I prefer Giampaolo over a stupendously rigid Sarri who I know would just frustrate me with his tunnel vision and rigidity outside of Sarriball.

But so far we cannot put faith in Marco just because he isnt as negative as Rino along with a few attacking playbooks even if that is underrating some exciting tactics he has. I need to see more.

So far Udinese keeping us on the backfoot.

Seeing really nothing of substance of flair from Milan today even if this is jumping on the trigger too early.

It is a product of the horrific latter part of the decade we have faced as Rossoneri but this also seems the case of a praised attacking manager who suddenly turns into a total pansy ass when summoned for a big (and relevant) club.

If anyone else shares those suspicions, I will feel less alone.

Castillejo isn't a SS
Suso isn't a Trequartista
Borini isn't a midfielder
Calhanoglu isn't a holding midfielder

Get this guy outta here

So basically all we heard of Giampaolo from guys like that Milanista we had we hyped Serie B talents for us (who was it again?), from Juventini here (we know who they are), from our board and then some exciting pre-season samples;

have not been on display today against fucking Udinese.

some of the players are still from previous ownership, and as much as giampaolo he is a guy who prefers to play 4-3-1-2 u need right players to do that, and not force them to system but i guess thats why he was saying it will take time

udinese was battling for relegation until igor tudor took over and they brought some good young players

the defense to attack transition is sucking big time atm ... paqueta and castillejo should swap spot lol

calhanoglu is one player that mystifies me so much... he has lack of concentration in the game really.... u can put him anywhere he wants to play and he wont deliver

in any case looks like udinese are playing with a great desire to get 3 points here

Every player on the right side won't be starting in a few weeks. Fact is, Giampaolo is the best coach we've had since Allegri and our mercato this summer hasn't been that bad. I believe he'll come good even if we struggle early on.

atm i have more concerns with players than giampaolo...
the whole midfielders are not playing with any attention to details ; they are outplayed by Mandragora

i am more willing to wait for another 3-4 games like giampaolo says how his idea will come to play but again he will need players and not just players we need some quality but i dont think its happening this market

The fact that he plays 4-3-1-2 alone in the current tactical climate of football has me skeptical, paired with the suspicion that he was hired by the remaining reached of Berlusconi who remains with that formation, 30 years later.

My thoughts on Hakan are different from Milanisti given I watched Leverkusen often and saw a player who was a genuinely good playmaker, full of raw talent and a stunning set-piece taker but here it seems it is not being brought out and there is not much to go by.

Piatek scoring not a goal in pre-season also worries me for we have a small sample size of him overcoming such moments and he is after all literally our only genuine goal threat.

We need Fadi back for a bit to rant in his exclamatory way about Milan to help me feel somehow better about all this.

oh lol i buy that....

berlusconi was publicly bitchin about it...
seriously thats so true... unless absolutely the players we have,
4-3-1-2 is a waste.. especially if the front two FWs are useless ... u already wasted two players worth of contribution down the pitch

but then again i guess giampaolo and our management knows something we dont know... they are convinced so

Well that's true.

Paqueta is a midfielder who's entire game is based on instinct. Play him as a LCM in a 4-3-1-2 he's gonna have more tactical responsibilities naturally. I think he'll develop the most under Giampaolo.

Hakan has been a total flop since he's come. Inconsistent, lacks confidence, and just really meh.

Borini is a striker who is currently playing as a CM. The less said about him the better.

Also Giampaolo is a Sacchi recommendation more than anything else. Last time Sacchi recommend a coach for us was Sarri when he was at Empoli now look at Sarri now. I'll take his word over signing grinta merchants like Sinisia or Gattuso. Thanks.

Milan news isn't Milan news without Silvio's once a 6 month rant on how we do not play the 4-3-1-2 and lack of two CFs as it is Laughing

In fairness to Giampaolo going from Gattuso's rigid 4-4-2 to a more free-flowing nuanced system is going to take time so we will have to bear the first 3-4 games before we see it in fruition, if at all.

But a bevy of managers I see with their attacking ideas always retract into a defensive shell when paired with big expectations in a big club.

@Milantildeath was exactly the name I was looking for.

2013 Milan summer he was slating anyone who did not thinking Matteo Mancosu and Leonardo Pavoletti would not be genuine star signings for us and what we need. One of many examples.

Also happened to be a Curva Sud ultra so no surprise there.

What?? When did I hype this Milan at all? I'm the only one so far that wrote Milan outside of CL spots in the prediction thread. Milan fans are the ones hyping up such a poor mercato in the transfer threads.
