Why are people complaining about VAR here? The problem is with the handling rule. If a goal is scored, unintentional or not, and an offensive player has the ball hit their hand, the goal is off.

Thank god this happened, because maybe people will actually talk about this and discuss how fucking stupid that rule is.

You can find my comments on here as soon as that rule was released, I said it was incredibly stupid. Happy to benefit, but Man City deserve that win. Robbery.

Everyone who wants to take power away from referees and try and make things like handling less of a grey area, you reap what you sow. This is the game they want.

People here don't get this, prefer instead to cry against VAR when it's working as it should. THe problem is in the rule.

what happens if Spurs counter and they go on to a score a winner themselves, would they would have checked it then?

My problem with it is that the refs up top in the studio still come off selective as to what decisions they try to check

impossible bruh. There's absolutely no reason to think at all we can beat you guys. Your pace is exactly what our meager defense can't handle, and that has been the case for about 6 years now lol

Maybe, I'm worried about Klopp. He might start Gomez and Milner for the fuck of it. Adrian being in goal means 1 goal conceded minimum.

Nishankly wrote:CSpurs diverting attention from Spurs atrocious performance today and barely scraping it against Villa in the first week.

I was by far the most critical of Spurs & Poch throughout the match tbh. The performance was atrocious.

On the other hand, City are on another level this year and Spurs are missing 3 first teamers + Lo Celso, N'Dombele is new to the team yet, Eriksen still wants to leave, and they managed a point. It's an awful performance, but to get a point away at City given all of that is something I don't think anyone will be upset about, including Liverpool fans. Especially after an atrocious performance against Soton. Soton had a higher xG than Pool actually

No excuses for Spurs performance, I'm just commenting on the handling rule because I've been against it since Day 1, and I'm upset to see it rear its ugly head. But this is what people have decided they want from football. Less power from the refs, more black and white calls. This is what you get

I'm confused by your first question. You mean if Jesus shot it at Lloris for example and then Spurs countered and scored? Then nothing. The rule is for an offensive movement (idk the exact term). Cities offensive movement would have ended when Lloris caught the ball. This rule is only a thing if a team scores and that team had a player intentionally or unintentionally use their arm in the buildup.

As for your second, this is not true. The VAR refs are checking every offside, possible offside, and big decision (goals, possible penalties, yellow and red card offenses. The VAR CANNOT overrule the center ref. They can only make suggestions.

The penalty shout was looked at by VAR. There was actually a shot of Michael Oliver talking into his set clearly speaking in the negative ("it's not a penalty for me", or something similar). It's clear Oliver made the decision that it wasn't a penalty. We don't know what VAR said. My personal guess is they said Lamela is all over him but Rodri threw himself to the ground (which is fair, it was probably enough contact for a pen but with the way Rodri buckled his legs and went to ground, I understand why Oliver said no).

VAR is not selective at all. The center ref however can choose to be selective if he or she chooses. They can choose to disregard or follow VAR refs.

Someone can fact check me on this, I'm not 100% on how VAR works but this is to the best of my knowledge
