Attack them. That will force Alves and Abidal to really stay back. Barca becomes really dangerous when they have guys overlapping at will and you surrender midfield dominance. We have the athletes to recover on defense now. We also have enough technical skill in the midfield assuming Sahin and Alonso are both healthy.

No reason to resort to extreme tactics.

A lot of differing opinions here. Hopefully the Supercopas will sort out how we should deal with them.

IMO best way to approach is 1 DM (pepe) and 2 attackind cms (Xabi and Sahin). barcas midfield > ours so we have to use a dm imo, i also liked the marcelo + di magia combo, i liked it alot when di magia played left with marcelo they worked together very well and they both rape the life out of any lb, so i think we should use that too but that means özil cant play so idk... alot of options

So Ozil is out because he played a few meh games against Barca?

Might as well take out Alonso too then.

Anyways:

Coentrao-Ramos-Pepe-Marcelo
Khedira-Sahin-Alonso
Di Maria-CR7-Ozil

(assuming Coentrao can play RB)

Thinking of a way to work Higuain and Ozil in there.

Why is everybody discussing formation and tactics and such. i had the impression Madrid fans thought they already knew how to beat Barca and were just robbed last time they met.

I wish but without Ibra there it's different. This would be mine if I were the coach

Arbeloa - Ramos - Carvalho - Marcelo
Xabi
Pepe ----------- Sahin
Ronaldo ------------------------ Di Maria
Benzema

I always have tought Benz would work as a false 9. He is very good at creating space and getting the ball through. Play him false 9, let Pepe just trouble their midfield in any possible way and Sahin should just spray killer balls.

We were robbed but we can't change that now. As far as beating them. We are very capable of being them. That 1st classico was a wake up call last year. They are a GREAT team but they def aren't unbeatable. I think players like Coentrao and Sahin are gonna be great additions especially for these games. My lineup would be

Arbeloa - Ramos - Carvalho - Coentrao
-------------- Pepe-----------------
------- Xabi -----------Sahin/Ozil
Ronaldo ----------------------Di Maria
------------- Benzema---------------

I really like Ozil but he hasn't done anything against Barca. Hopefully that will change this season. I would also like to play Marcello and Coentrao at LB and RB but I have no clue how Coentrao would be on the right side

yes, last season ozil didn't score/ assist againt Barca, but saying he didn't do anything is just unfair, especially with him only on pitch half the game most of the time playing with tactic that didn't suit him

I read similar comment in other thread sometime ago and just quote my response back then here:

@alex mahone wrote:
ozil did nothing againts barca is a myth

after adebayor wasted his nice pass around the box, ozil's the one that won back the ball from xavi (iirc) that initiated the chance of penalty equaliser in la liga second game, he also initiated the attack that could have won the game if valdes couldn't save khedira's shoot

besides almost assisted for pepe, he also almost assisted for CR (it's like 2 or 3 chances for. CR iirc) in final cdr, even though not as clear as the one for pepe

on topic, I would like us to get more possesion & play more attacking
players & formation? not sure, but...
if coentrao is included I will put him either as winger/ LB
don't want to see pepe in the midfield
would like to see how well sahin integrates before fit him in
wouldn't left out carvalho & ozil

a higher work rate is key.

doesnt matter what formation we use as long as the players included run up and down the field, and when defending leave very little space.
