Challenge Farca in midfield!

With Varane, Sahin and Coentrao's inclusion into the squad, I've got more ingredients to cook with. There is a way to sustain prolonged high pressing in midfield against Farca:

3-4-3, CR7 as false 9

Sub Di Maria for Ozil or vice versa .Key people are Pepenbauer, Khedira and Coentrao. Pepe offers a lot more than your average CB, I mean a whole LOT more . You could swap Alonso with Pepe with little difference. It takes a lot of discipline but with the right guys (which we have), we could stop their dominance in midfield.
Supercopa games are the best place to experiment with it. Marca or Mou, if you read this, try it out

but how are we going to play against them so that we are not at their mercy?

is there anything madrid can do to find a way to open them up, counter attack, make them uncomfortable and really become dangerous as to make like 3 goals on them if theyre not careful?

what is madrid going to do to become barca's worst nightmare? we have to do something other than just try to hold the defense tight and hope for a goal.. it might work sometimes, but if we really want to make our own history, we have to fight fire with fire...

The plan is to destroy their midfield dominance, they automatically fall back in defense mode and park the bus when they don't have ball possession Then you have Sahin, Alonso, Ozil and Marcelo to create something, more than enough I'd say. Against them, we need to crowd the midfield as much as possible. I placed Ozil and Marcelo there because they can act as midfielder/attackers at the same time

basically put, we need a whole systematic team which can go from different tempos, into defense and then attack fast and easily so that we can create one of the best counter attacking machines in the planet..?

The problem is this is how Barcas midfield usually will look

Yes, alves does drop to the mid too

And these will crush our midfield... and then we are even more defenseless in the backline... its completly suicidal

Hmm you can also view it as a system that alternates to a 4-3-2-1 if you start with Di Maria, with him and Coentrao acting as double full backs thus crowding the midfield. The downside is we may not attack much if we don't handle the ball properly when we get it.

Quite a risky formation you got there lol. With that kind of midfield we can trouble barcas midfield, but lack a bit as offensive. Di maria as a starter to Özil and CR7 at the wings which means Higgy/Benz as a CF role. We do not need to keep possession also because everytime we have to ball we usually translate it to counterattack which is good but not so sure about defence. You think they can hold of Villa, Sanchez or Messi if they get through our midfield.

What I did is the more offensive version of it. I count on Coentrao and Khedira to fall back when we need heavy defending then you'll get your 5-3-2 practically

If you want to do it properly, there's no room for Alonso either:

Each of the mids can carry the ball out of defense and has got no problems under pressure...

I know guys, I sound super crazy but at some point we have to act and not only react. Farca's dominance in midfield isn't down to quality only, they outnumber opponents in midfield=> defense and attack are split in half. If we don't challenge them in midfield, we'll always be krass underdogs against them

I wanna see something like this.

I think many are freaking when they see just a 3 for the defense when actually it could change to a 3, 4 and 5. The great thing about the line-up you have is that everyone is fast the play isn't slowed down. I think that khedira and coentrao could hassle both xavi and iniesta tiring them and limiting the passing outlets. With pepe already covering messi you would extremely be limiting them.

Sahin would also be free and if you add Ozil to the mix they will have a hard time stopping them.

It works well in theory but everyone needs to focus and keep there heads cool.

You cant beat barca in their game. We shouldnt even try beating them in their game. We are not built to play the way they do. That doesnt mean that they're the better. It just means that we should play to our potentials.

We will not be able to control the midfield as in the # of mins we keep the ball. We are not built this way, never will.

Mourinho way last year was the best way, still is. Mourinho didnt make any tactical mistakes, it's just that things didnt go his plan's way in the CL. Sometimes things like that happen.

Can we control the midfield against Barca? Abosolutely not, and whoever believes we can just doesnt understand football on a high level.

We can beat Barca, and in fact i believe we will, as long as we play our way.

I dont think we will park the bus.

We will play on counters. It will be much like the first half in the copa del rey last season. Shutting down the Barca midfield in our half, stealing the ball and counter attacking.

Benz and Ronaldo are at their best. Ronaldo, i believe will rise to the big occasions this season. You guys need to learn how to read people and not just football. I dont blame you for not being able to do that. It's not everyone's cup of coffee.
