Lopetequi is quite comfortable with Thiago as backup to Busquets. He played there last two games!

11 are

DeGea; Carvajal Pique, Ramos, Alba; Koke (or Thiago), Busquets, Iniesta; Silva, Isco, Diego Costa

Imagine if Messi decided to play for Spain

This team would have no match up in the WC.

Midfield so good leaving Fabregas out is not even slightly controversial.

It's not controversial because Cesc has regressed significantly from what he used to be as a player. He is one of those players who peaked early and is now completely meh

Only people who are "complaining" about that squad is the Hala's of the Madridista world that insist Morata is a better pick than Aspas and Rodrigo.

Ironically, not even Hala himself would agree to that thinking.

The big concern is the striker. I cannot even say for sure who best to play there. Miss David Villa so much. France in 1998 won the world cup without a top striker. So it's not like it can't be done but then goals will have to come from everywhere including unexpected sources.

Lipetefui taking Vallejo to the world Cup as reserve is one of the most BS things I have ever seen. *bleep* Vallejo lmao, lopetegui is such a hardcore madridista he doesn't even hide it

I don't understand why Iago Aspas doesn't start. He was instrumental against Argentina, and again, he changed the game as a substitute. I wonder how many times he has to be decisive as a substitute, in order to earn himself a starting spot. Clearly, the team doesn't quite tick without him.

Lol Nick, he didn’t take him to WC. He took him and 3 others to pre tournament practices to increase practice roster, largely because 3 Madridistas were given some time off after CL final. All 4 of the kids had played for Lopetegui before on U21 team, knew his tactics and training.

If he does have a bias towards Madrid, that bodes well for him eventually coming to Madrid!

I also think he has earned a starting spot but am not sure where to play him. Should Aspas be the center forward in place of Costa or take Isco's place as a support striker?

Costa should not be starting, at least every game. He looks like a square peg in a round hole out there. Aspas is a much better player for Spain.

That is really the big question. Both Costa and Rodrigo are stronger and better at holding up the ball, but it has been Aspas the only one consistently scoring. However most of his goals have been as a second striker.

The choice is Aspas over Rodrigo or Costa or do they play 2 strikers at the expense of Iniesta, Silva or Isco.

Yeah and setting up Hierro to fail? Good luck with that. Just made it perfectly clear that this was the wrong decision.

Hierro isn't a a top coach. This is the Spanish FA's fault. People forget that Van Gaal did the same with Man U and he took his country to the 3rd place.

The people complaining about this wouldn't last long being NFL fans tbh. This is such a common occurrence there, and it doesn't really affect anything.
