Zidane was not that great

LOL as good as Deco hahaha, that's taking it too far bro......... I do think he is over rated in the sense that most think he is top 5 or so all time but he was still great

Yeah, I agree that Deco wasn't on Zidane levels, but players like Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Figo or Henry where on Zidane levels, and Ronaldo arguably better.

Zidane is by no means at the same level as Pele and Maradona as many in this forum and the stupid Madrid press say.

The thing with Zidane overating is a little bit the same than Ronaldinho (most people in this forum still say he was better than Messi LOL): both looked very good playing football. Zidane oozed class and beauty. Ronaldinho was flashy and tricky. But in terms of helping their team win, Zidane was not that good to be rated as an all time top 5.

Don't compare Zizou to Ronaldinho. A true measure of a footballer is how long he's at his peak for and how long he can maintain his highest level. Ronaldinho is a classic example of how one can quickly rise to the top of the mountain and subsequently rapidly tumble down. Ronaldinho was nowhere near Zidane outside of his peak years at barca. Ronaldinho is a boy, while Zidane is a man.

Biased opinions aside, I think anybody that genuinely understands that game can watch Zidane play and immediately notice his unparalleled talent.

really? u expect them to be arrogant and say they were the best ever?....most of the those players are better or equal to zidane

Zidane was a magician, he oozed class in every aspect of his game.

Top 10 imo for sure. Everywhere he played, he was just great. I can say hes one of the only two players that ive shed a tear for when they retired

Even more frustrating that people can say someone else is making uneducated comments for having a different opinion. Its not as if people are saying zidane isnt a great player just that he isnt on the level on some of the other greats and doesn't deserve some of the hype he gets.

Zidane, IMO, is one of the all time greats, IMO. Definately in the Pele, Maradonna class. What he did in 98 and 2006 and also with Juventus and Real Madrid at club level, should be more than enough to prove how good he was.

awards from corrupt fifa don't have as much value anymore. just look at this year when messi won it, when everyone knew it should've gone to xavi or sneijder. usually it goes to one of the best players in he wc and also to somebody who had a fantastic season. xavi and sneijder had that, messi underperformed at the wc and only won one trorphy. however giving it to messi looks good for fifa because it's messi and he has amazing skills and dribbling abilities, just like zidane. sneijder and xavi don't have this superstar status, they have much lower profiles compared to messi. giving it to the quiet midfielder who pulls all the strings doesn't look so good, unlike giving it to a flashy attacking player. and that's how zidane won his last two world player awards, his reputation.
