In Frankfurt atm, at been visiting Germany this week. Just went to Phantasialand (amusement park) which was great fun.

Also watched Star Wars a couple days ago (loved it). Anyone else here seen it?

I've seen it, was okay imo, too many tropes and cliches, and it was basically A New Hope V2 lol

Was it an enjoyable 2 hours? Yes

Was it a good movie? No (not to me at least)

It was definitely an Ep 4 ripoff, but I still liked it for the banter and entertainment. The best parts about it were good in their own way too IMO.

Was going to ask you because of the pic days earlier . I took it you liked it

The Lies of Locke Lamora Proud

Wait till you read to the end , last part of the book is very very good . You can't wait to start the 2nd.

Camorr , Shades Hill , Chains , the gang , the hideout under the Temple of Perelandro , the schemes , thieves

The rich remember Proud

I am currently reading The Republic of Thieves , the 3rd book in the series and it's brilliant so far. I like it more than the 2nd really . However , the 2nd had something really special. Want to see if the 3rd will be like that . Currently Lies is my favourite of the series no contest , everything was so good imo , followed (at least so far) by the 3rd one , and last the 2nd book. It was still a very good book and i enjoyed it , i just like the other two more , even though 2nd one still has something special about it.

4th book won't take long to come out , it's due in 2016 thankfully .

Dassem is overrated, beat an injured Rake (who orchestrated it and wanted to die to Dassem) hmm

Its been proven that methodical, prudent men can easily put him under the thumb (like Hood), Locke Lamora is just that :coffee:

I remember i was going to read Malazan too

(:

I still mean to btw . Would have already started in the summer tbh , i just thought i would finish some other books first , including the GM series , and anyway books i always left for tomorrow , turns out it took me all summer and going Laughing

i am like GRRM a little at such things , i mean well , but things just happen otherwise (:

After this one i barely have anything else in mind , chances are good i'll give it a try 'soon' .

Your criticism on the Malazan series is very valid though. I don't blame you for retiring. It is very tiring to binge read. I imagine all the books were easier to digest when it was being released yearly which is why the hardcore fans love it so much and rate it 10/10. Erikson's method of building up to a huge convergence was a great method that paid of superbly in Deadhouse Gates, Memories of Ice etc but his later books should have followed the model of the universally loved Bonehunters where each part had it's own climaxes and something massive happened (Siege of Y'Ghatan in one part, world about to freaking end in the next part). Also every character turning to Aristotle and having huge philosophical thoughts for three pages sucked hard.

Same here. Last semester was very busy, this semester I have more difficult classes but I'm more free so it evens out. Enjoying it atm. Likely to major in biology and pursue education right now, who knows if that changes.

Probably not the most lucrative of careers but I think I'll enjoy it and it's important to me, so...we'll see.

Totally forgot I had posted in this thread Laughing

I've just started reading the lies of Lock Lamora, it's interesting so far. Easy to get into it but not so easy to follow the plot as it seems to jump between past a present a lot.

Good to hear you guys enjoyed it.

Yeah i remember that one rofl

I really appreciate the humor in these books , especially when you least expect it. It's very good in the first book and there's a decent amount of it in the second , but in the third book it gets out of hand rofl

Kick

Nah don't worry about it , it's only in the beginning it's like this , going back and forth between past and present . This doesn't go on for long , in fact by the time it stopped i was beginning to/pretty much hooked and wanted to read more of the past lol .

Personally i didn't just enjoy it , it's easily one of my favorite series by now. I am somewhat taking my time with the 3rd book , it will sting to wait for the 4th book once i am done .

Still not done yet though, but i am so hooked Molenation (pun not intended)

I haven't looked anything on the series up on the internet for fear of getting spoiled, but will there be more books? Or is it only a trilogy?

ES

Yes there are more , it isn't a trilogy. There are going to be 7 books ! Can't wait ffs

Currently there are 3 published , and the 4th is about to be published soon enough , if it isn't already hmm

I also really liked the 2nd book , yet at the start i really missed Camorr , i could easily read all 7 books in Camorr tbh , no problemo... indeed , the beginning was slow , though as i was starting to get into Tal Verrar and all things Sinspire , shit happens with that major D-bag Stragos and they go out at sea , at first i didn't really approve , but soon enough i well changed my mind anyway . 2nd half of the book is great fun . Agreed with everything , especially Drakasha ffs . And how could you forget Caldris who trained the lads at sea with his "larboard and starboard and shit", ffs what a character Proud

Locke and Jean adventures ffs
