Re: The Press Room
Official: Sporting Lisbon secure Barcelona's Jeffren for €3.7m
The Portuguese giants continue their summer transfer spree with the addition of the Spanish winger, who was out of favour at the La Liga champions
Jeffren
Winger
Fee: €3.7 million
Contract: Jun 2016
From Barcelona To Sporting Lisbon
Sporting Lisbon have announced to the Portuguese stock market (CMVM) they have signed Barcelona winger Jeffren for €3.7 million.
The 23-year-old midfielder has penned a five-year contract with the Portuguese club, with a €30m buy-out clause inserted into the deal.
Sporting have revealed that Barcelona will be entitled to 20 per cent of the profit of a future sale of Jeffren, with no mention of a buy-back clause for the Catalan club, which had been suggested by the Portuguese media over the last few days.
Jeffren, a product of Barcelona's youth ranks, has opted for a new challenge after being told he would have little room to operate at the Camp Nou in the new season.
The Spain Under-21 international has become Sporting's 14th signing this summer, and the second Spaniard to arrive at the Estadio do Alvalade in the transfer window, following the acquisition of Sevilla's Diego Capel for €3.5m last month.
It is believed that Jeffren will immediatelly join up with the rest of the team as they will participate in the Ramon de Carranza trophy at the weekend, together with Cadiz, Malaga and Udinese.
------------------------------
Official: Sporting pay 3.75M + 0.2M variables for Jeffren. Barcelona get 20% of a future sale. Buy-back option of 8M in 2012 and 12M in 2013

Re: The Press Room
Oriol Romeu signs for Chelsea
FC Barcelona and Chelsea have reached agreement for the transfer of Oriol Romeu for five million Euros.
The deal includes a buy-back clause of 10 million Euros after a year, rising to 15 after the second year.
Tough tackling midfielder
Oriol Romeu made his name with the Club’s child and youth teams not as a typical Barça midfielder, but rather as a tough tackling stopper.
Barça B drew 2-2 at Betis last season with a goal from Oriol Romeu, which typified his abilities. Romeu pressured for possession and fired home his goal under pressure when it looked impossible.
Romeu’s character, his aggression and his strong physique are the qualities which have distinguished the youngster since he joined the Club in the summer of 2004.
Strength
He joined the Club at the Infantil A level in the 2004.05 season and was supported by coach Sergio Lobera, who made him play as a defensive midfielder.
Playing alongside Riverola and Krol the three proved to be an impressive midfield and Romeu’s strength and good defending won over successive coaches at the Club.
Coming from Barça, Romeu is also of course comfortable on the ball, but what marks him as different is his ability in the air and all round strength and stamina.
Stars under Luis Enrique
In Luis Enrique’s first season in charge of the B team, Romeu, then still a Youth Team player, was given his head, starting the first game of the 08-09 season. He combined a successful campaign with the Youth A team and a number of appearances with the B team that year.
He made the move up to the B team squad the following year, whilst still putting in the occasional game for the Youth A team, and was a key part in the promotion winning team that season.
Debut, consolidation and injury
Last season saw Romeu make another big step and he made his first team debut in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup in Seville. His importance with the B team grew until he suffered a bad injury at Las Palmas which kept him out for five months. He fought back from that though and was back in the team for the run in to the season’s finale, helping Luis Enrique’s youngsters to the best ever finish for a B team in Segona A.

Re: The Press Room
Turkish Airlines US tour a social success
FC Barcelona’s tour of the United States was an excellent opportunity to promote the club around the world. Of particular importance were the agreements signed with the Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation and the Fundación Pies Descalzos.
The agreements signed with internationally prestigious organisations has done wonders for FC Barcelona’s international image, but even more for the beneficiaries, who are children around the world in vulnerable situations. In Miami, the FC Barcelona Foundation signed an agreement with the Fundación Pies Descalzos founded by Shakira and which works with disadvantaged children in Colombia and the United States.
Projecting values to children
The vice president of the FC Barcelona Social Area, Jordi Cardoner, said his fondest memory of his days in the USA is “being with children because it is a world of excitement … It is a world we work with a lot. We basically want to project values to them, for them to be the ones that make use of this tool, sport and football.
Agreement with Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation
In Washington, FC Barcelona presented a collaboration agreement with the Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate poliomyelitis in an event that had major media repercussions. The director and vice president of the FC Barcelona Foundation, Ramon Pont, who played a big role in the event, said that “being with Bill Gates’ Foundation is priceless”. He repeated the words of the cofounder of Microsoft, who said “we share the same values as FC Barcelona” and added that “for a club to have a foundation is unusual”.
Consolidating the Club’s social commitments
As well as these two agreements, the Club also visited two of its supporters clubs in Miami and Washington, reinforced its commitments to Unicef in an event in Dallas, met the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and visited the FC Barcelona campus in Miami. Cardoner knows that the club’s amazing successes on the pitch have a lot to do with the increased support in America, and said that “from the Social Area we want to strengthen and consolidate our growth and ensure that when the results are not so good, that this support will not change.”

More than 212,694 watch tour live
The three games played by Barça in the USA attracted a total of 212,694 people, an impressive figure that reflects the interest in the team in North America.
The attendance for Barça’s final game of the tour in Dallas was 60,807, meaning the 63,000 seats were almost all filled, which is especially impressive given the afternoon start (15.00). Barça fans were the majority, although there were also plenty of yellow America shirts to be seen in the stands. As is common in the US, there were plenty of people gathered around the stadium long before kickoff, enjoying the typical pre-march barbecues.
Wonderful stadium
The venue in Arlington (Texas) is not only huge, but also offers all kinds of amenities. The most outstanding features include the huge 1,000 m2 screen, the huge entrance walkways, the plentiful catering facilities and the massive seats.
Comparable with 2009
The 60,807 people at this game can be added to the 81,807 in Washington DC for the Manchester United match and the 70,080 in Miami to see FCB play Chivas Guadalajara. That makes for a total of 212,694 spectators, a figure only slightly shy of the 221,557 that saw Barcelona play in Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco in 2009.

Cesc Fabregas signs until 2016
Cesc has finally joined FC Barcelona, after signing a contract for the next five seasons. His buyout clause will be 200 million Euros.
It was just after 13.00 when Cesc Fabregas signed his contract with FC Barcelona that will keep him at the club for the next five seasons, meaning that Cesc will be wearing the Barça shirt until 2016.
The signing of the contract took place at the FC Barcelona offices and was attended by Fabregas and the Barça President, Sandro Rosell. Also present were vice president of sports, Josep Maria Bartomeu, the sports director of professional football, Andoni Zubizarreta, and director of football, Raul Sanllehí.
The buyout clause of the new FC Barcelona player is 200 million Euros.
Photo with the club plaque
As is traditional, once the contract had been signed, Cesc appeared at the front of the offices to have his photo taken in front of the Barça plaque. Expectation was huge, with many photographers and television cameras waiting to capture this image. Sandro Rosell, Josep Maria Bartomeu, and Andoni Zubizarreta also appear in the photograph that will now be part of the club’s album.

Wow... nice find Khaled.
I watched an old Clasico you uploaded before. I think it was 2002/03 or 03/04. Ronnie's first season. He was incredible, such a great player. Valdes was amazing too.
Best left flank = Gio + Ronaldinho!
