Personally, I would go for Frimpong because he loves Arsenal.. Passion counts for a lot.. But Coquelin gained a lot of experience during Lorient and has that advantage over Frimpong.. Whats your take?

Full context please, MJ. :coffee:

I stick by what I said back then. It was 3.5 years ago when both had a comparable point in their careers. All other things being comparable, I would still pick Frimpong for the passion.

However, things are far from comparable - one has established himself and the other has pretty much disappeared.

My sense of feeling vindicated, however, has mellowed and tempered a fair bit since you pointed out my OP. :coffee:

Here is the catch: Frimpong and Wilshere are 19, Ramsey and Lansbury 20, Song 24, Diaby 25.

Reserves : Ebecilio 17, Aneke 18, Coquelin 20, Eastmond 20, Henderson 19, Ozyakup 18, Niko Yennaris 18. [Miss anyone?]

For me its painfully obvious that we'll let some of these guys go. We can't possibly have 12 midfielders [not counting Diaby] for 3 midfield roles in the future. Who all do you think will make the cut?

My take: Wilshere and Ramsey are too good to leave. One of Frimpong or Coquelin will have to move on eventually in search of regular football (which prompted me to start this thread). Ebicilio-Aneke-Ozyakup is our holy trinity in the reserve squad. Wouldn't want any of them to leave. Which means Yennaris, Henderson and Eastmond would be on the move eventually.

We've come a long way, haven't we.

Never dreamed of Özil, Alexis, Xhaka, Santi... Heck thought Jack would be locked on even!
