There're so manz bullshit players that are hyped like no tomorrow everyday, no one talks about the real superb player. He learned how to play CDM from RB position in no time. After he moved into CDM in the second half of the Arsenal match, Arsenal couldn't do a thing anymore. Even more, he made both goals happen with direct assists. He is the captain of that team, most consistent player, plays constantly on WC level yet we talk about wheelchaires etc. I think footballing intelligence is very hard to measure otherwise even a blind fool would see what a little monster he is. The positional play of a CDM is so complex, yet he learned it in no time. I don't want Piggy in the role anymore in the NT. The most gifted players should be played where they're the most influental. In his case, it's the midfield.

Legend , I love this player.
He won  all with Bayern deservedly, about the National Team unfortunately for him Germany against Italy would lose even to table soccer.

If Lahm plays DM for Germany that will either make Germany's defense much better or even worse.I believe it will make them better, simply because i think Khedira-Schweinteiger is a mess and almost any other more defensive partner for Piggy would be an improvement.

people arent ignoring Lham, it's just that the consensus about him an about what he is doing in midfield is so overwhelming that there is no debate to be had.

The problem with Germany using him in the same role is that the fullbacks Germany has are far enferior to what Bayern has.

Alaba and Rafinha ( before anyone laughs he's a fantastic attacker in a team which dominates possession) are leaps and bounds above what Germany can pick not called Lahm.

But i do agree maybe something like Gundogan( if he can actually get fit again ffs)-Lahm-Kroos would be great and very fluid more akin to how Low has tried to get Germany to play.

Oh and another genius move by Pep, which the idiotic experts laughed at him for rofl

Lham-Kroos? oh man that's some risky shit. Kroos cant consistently play in a double pivot. And i suppose the third midfielder would be Ozil? oh boy

I said Gundogan brah....

if he isn't fit then i suppose Piggy can be the third mid.

Ozil can have a free role in the front 3 alongside Gotze and some body else.

So who would play RB then? There is already a struggle to find a LB, why begin a struggle to find a RB when Lahm is the best in the world? There are more options in CM then at RB.

Thats my original point....

Just saying what i would do if you would put him in midfield, cant really do it though as the options are well shall we say sub standard.

Lahm suits Pep's style perfectly. His movement is much better than Martinez's and so is his overall intelligence. That was all clear vs Arsenal. Due to the way Bayern play, Rafinha is adequate for the RB spot.

Such an excellent all-around player. One of my favorites of this generation.

As for the current discussion.....how about Sebastian Jung at RB...heard he's been doing rather well with Frankfurt...he could be an option in that role. It's LB that Germany are really going to have problems filling though. Schmelzer was always average and everyone else is no where near up to snuff. Shame Aogo and Contento didn't work out either.

It doesnt matter who plays RB. A great midfield can carry a team places, if Lham is performing there he can give a better and stronger edge to Germany.

Meh, a top midfield is not the end all, be all to a great team. Wasn't before the dominance of the Spanish and it won't be after they've faded in their influence of the game. For me, the defense is still the spine of the team whereas the midfield is the heartbeat. Maybe that's traditional thinking, maybe it's even conservative thinking, but I don't think it's wrong. Defense still wins championships as we 'Muricans like to say.

As for Lahm, I don't think it matters where he plays, he's going to improve Germany wherever he does end up playing....he's just that good.

Not in goal :coffee:

As for Sebastian Jung - he is still pretty much a raw diamond. I guess we'll have to wait how he will develop. If all things fail, there is always Kevin Großkreutz. He might not be the most gifted player, but his workrate is outstanding.

Better than messing around with fullbacks would be to start Bender alongside Schweinstniger in the double pivot and keep Lahm at RB.

Nah that's too logical and original for Jogi Löw...
