Is Italy Doomed? Empty Is Italy Doomed?

Post by ToEy Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:41 pm

Extremely high debt levels, yields almost reaching 7%, might not be able to rollover their debt next year with reasonable cost.....

Will throwing out berlu solve a thing?

Expert views anyone?

Yes italy is doomed and I will personally dance on the Euro's grave

if Bunga Bunga doesnt step down, which he prolly wont the country will be bankrupt with six months!

He proposed to make the retirement age 67 instead of 65, what a joke! You get what you deserve for putting that man into power italia

Disgraceful, Yuri. Wishing the best country in the world to falter.

A rallying effort needs to be made to save what is the country endowed by God. :coffee:

I dont wish italia to falter, great people.

However the Euro and its conservative bundesbank tactics are fundamentally bad for italy, I wish for the Euro to falter.

I also would like to see berlu falter because no decent and great people like the italians should have a clown as a president.

The Italians elected him and then they elected him again. So, obviously, the Italians brought this on themselves to an extent!

But to say the people did not support him would be ludicrous. Yes, he manipulated them by using emotional issues such as losing the War to coerce them into voting for him, but I am pretty sure they supported him to an extent. Is it their fault ? Surely not. :coffee:

Italy is in trouble but the latest EU talks said they weren't in any immediate danger. They need to step up their game, so to speak, but they actually can fix their issues. So imho they are not is dire straights quite yet. Crisis maybe but not yet inevitable...

He's all, but lost the support of the Northern League. And with over half of the 630 lawmakers refusing to vote on his budget, there's no wonder why he's deciding to quit.

Now he needs to give advice to Herman Cain on how to beat sexual harassment accusations.

Wait what? This topic is all wrong... For those who didn't recall. Greece is doomed. They have about 300 billion Euro's in their country, just that they have more debt to owe. Though, most of you are forgetting that Spain is in the same situation almost resulting into default. Italy in comparison to Greece has about two Trillion Euro's a debt that is not even exceeding our total.

From what i have read, Italy has a lot of untapped potential in their economy. But the reforms required to release that potential are hugely unpopular among some of the Italians. These are the same people who are enjoying the benefits of a relatively closed society.

This is why the much needed reforms have not been implemented yet as anyone who implements them will probably not be a popular figure and cannot win the subsequent elections.

You know that you are not doing something right when the news of your resignation fuels rallies in stock markets all over the world and the regional currency of which your country belongs to hits new highs.

Italy & Spain are not doomed because should either one of them go down they will take down the euro with them. As a result the ECB will guarantee their bonds eventually. Greece, on the other hand, is not essential for the euro zone and will not make it.

If Italy gets guarantees from the European Union they won't need a bailout, they just need to cut spending. Because unlike Greece and Portugal, Italy actually has an economy. It's just been crippled by corruption and idiocy, but they still got a solid manufacturing sector, lots of brands of international recognition and a decent base of "middle class" businesses.

If they can manage to rid themselves of Berlusconi-style politicians and reform their administration, they might actually be fine. Sure, they'll be in debt for decades, but contrary to popular believe that's actually something a large country with a running economy can easily handle, they can always just pay off their pressing debts with loans from the EU that they get for better conditions.

It sounds retarded, but it'll actually work out for decades. They just need to cut spending, or increase revenue, so their debt stops growing. They don't actually need to radically reduce it.

No one can afford to lose italy, there is no one arguing that the world is going to let italy fail.

However most believe that european politics is too slow to react, this is especially complicated when there are many different european parties. If europe let greece just sit there for more than two years (and it still isnt solved), any reaction close to that will main an italian default.

i do not see china or the states bailing out italy mainly because the leaders dont have the political capital , also because I dont see the italian politicians swalowing it.
