Re: Kevin Strootman
Luciano Spalletti today announced that Kevin Strootman will be included in his matchday squad for Sunday's Serie A meeting with Palermo.
“Strootman will be back in the squad with us as of tomorrow,” the Giallorossi boss declared at a media conference ahead of the game.
“Kevin is training well and making good progress with his recovery.”
The Dutch midfielder, who has been recovering from cruciate ligament surgery, last turned out for Roma in a league match against Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi in January 2015.
Daniele De Rossi is set to miss tomorrow's Week 26 fixture, however, after picking up a calf injury in midweek against Real Madrid.
“It's a shame we won't have Daniele and it's my fault for putting him on against Real. I have to take responsibility for that because I'm the one who makes the decisions in these cases.
“However, in [William] Vainquer we have another player who's proved we can count on him. We also have [Seydou] Keita and everyone knows how good he is. So at least we're covered in that area.”

Re: Kevin Strootman
He even played. Let's hope he can make up for some really important lost developmental time (in terms of getting into his prime) and can shake off the knee injury worries!
Really hope he can get back to the top of his game and continue improving -- Oranje need him.

Re: Kevin Strootman
I'm really pulling for him this time. Many of us are. There's still many things he can do that our current midfield simply can't.
That said, my hopes aren't quite as high as they have been before as it's extremely rare for a player to come back from an ACL injury and return to prior form. Giuseppe Rossi and Stu Holden are cautionary tales. It's all about mentality though and Er Lavatrice has a strong one.
