The Middle East deserved a WC, but Qatar? Seriously?
Should've gone with Turkey where the laws don't actually scare the tourists away.

The strictness is the main disadvantage of Qatar for foreigners. But Qatar said in their bid that there will be designated drinking spots and skimpy clothing will be taken lightly, and props to Qatar for loosening up a bit. And plus, the infrastructure they promised is incredible. In terms of infrastructure, Qatar outshines the US and Australia.
But I agree that Qatar and UAE going in with a joint bid would have been better.

fbi better investigate ever piece of forced yellows, undeserved reds, offside goals and what reffs do in their spare time, although they might already be doing the latter in case they are a threat to the US and Obama
Are you kidding me, what has to do Platini???? if he was corrupt he would support Juve

Unfortunately for Platini ... Juve havent even been close to qualifying out of the group stages of CL . So he cant help them .. until they are not there .

That's what I thought too ... But perhaps it's no biggie for them to investigate stuff on behalf of the CIA. And if they have evidence to capture Blatter he should get the hell out of Europe and go to Bahrain where there are no extraditions laws for the US.che wrote:...doesn't the fbi only have jurisdiction inside the us?

What seems to have attracted the FBI's attention, other than the blatant corruption, is the fact that some of the money that Bin Hamman used to pay off Jack Warner made it way through the US, which is a federal crime is it isn't declared.
I think that's why the FBI got themselves involved ultimately.

Meh, even in the extremely unlikely case he does go to jail, it would probably be to one of those Norwegian resorts prisons.

Don't underestimate the power of reverse psychology. Our prisons are luxurious because it confuses people ... Makes people not want to become hardcore criminals :[Sushi Master wrote:Meh, even in the extremely unlikely case he does go to jail, it would probably be to one of those Norwegianresortsprisons.

Shame, it could host like tomorrow.
Anyways, this is a fantastic read on FIFA corruption:

It's a bit long but worth it

Re: FIFA Investigation and Elections Thread
Watching the E:60 report now. While it's well-made and works hard to make a case, a lot of their interviewees feel a bit like they're just trying to vent a grudge against Blatter or FIFA. It feels like the show (and everyone else) has all the evidence and pieces needed to put together an effective case, legal or otherwise, against Blatter and FIFA, but just can't quite get those pieces to fit together in a coherent and actionable manner.

FIFA Officials Arrested on Corruption Charges; Face Extradition to U.S.
By MATT APUZZO, MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT, WILLIAM K. RASHBAUM and SAM BORDENMAY 26, 2015
ZURICH — Swiss authorities began an extraordinary early-morning operation here Wednesday to arrest several top soccer officials and extradite them to the United States on federal corruption charges.
As leaders of FIFA, soccer’s global governing body, gathered for their annual meeting, more than a dozen plain-clothed Swiss law enforcement officials arrived unannounced at the Baur au Lac hotel, an elegant five-star property with views of the Alps and Lake Zurich.
The officers went to the registration desk to get keys, then headed upstairs toward the hotel rooms.
The charges allege widespread corruption in FIFA over the past two decades, involving bids for World Cups as well as marketing and broadcast deals, according to three law enforcement officials with direct knowledge of the case. The charges include wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering. Prosecutors planned to unseal an indictment soon against more than 10 officials, not all of whom are in Zurich, law enforcement officials said.
