Cisse: Lazio played me out of position

Cisse, who scored just one goal in 18 Serie A appearances, repeatedly stated that he wanted to stay at Lazio in order to prove himself but has now explained that he had become increasingly frustrated by his lack of opportunities to play up front.

"At Lazio I was not able to be myself," the former France international told reporters. "I didn't play in my natural role. I was always on the right or the left wing. I became sad."

Now that he has secured a return to the Premier League, the former Liverpool and Sunderland striker is eyeing a recall to the France squad.

"I'm going to QPR to help them climb the table and also earn a place in the national team for Euro 2012," he declared. "If I'm fit and well, I can score 10 to 12 goals."

The 30-year-old Cisse currently has 41 French caps to his name.

He really has a thing for scoring on his debut. I won't be sold on him until he scores again. For QPR's sake, I hope he doesn't wait several months to score his second.
