Capello's legacy in England Empty Capello's legacy in England

How will Capello be remembered in England as national manager?

What was his biggest achievement and biggest disappointment with the NT?

England is pretty much the same as years ago.

Not much to talk about.

Hes done a forgettable job in terms of building a team for the future.

Not good enough but he was never going to be "successful" in the first place.

He had no chance of turning them into winners, its an impossible task.

But some of his tactics and squad selections have been terrible.

His Gerrard on the left side of a 4411 was stolen from the Juve team and Zidane palying there, but it was never going to work the same way.

1 - Fabio Capello had the best win percentage (67%) of any permanent England manager.

Capello’s England have scored an average of 2.1 goals a game, conceding on average 0.83 goals. More than two thirds of those came from open play and the team’s respectable pass completion rate of 83% suggests they played relatively attractive football (Chelsea and Swansea, the top passers in the Premier League, manage about 85%).

Consider the fact he had the absolute sh**est English squad available to him that's pretty damn impressive.

Sven couldn't even do as well with an amazing squad in the prime of their careers.....

Agree with all that Crimson, thats overlooked completely by too many.

But, their showing at the WC was utterly terrible and not only poor in terms of results, but the performances were shockingly bad.

The major tournaments are really all that matters, Brazil for example are consistently poor even in qualifying but they turn it on fantatic when tournaments arrive..usually.

England in the WC were horrible, almost laughable. He didnt have anything like as much talent to work with as some would have you believe, but the level of the team was still so far below what it should be its untrue.

I am glad he is gone, I never liked him and I am sure England will do better with out him.

I dont know why people are making such a big deal of the WC to begin with tbh, because Germany would have trounced us eitherway.

We are just not good enough to get in the latter stages of tournaments atm, for it to happen we have to insanely overperform and teams have to underperform.

True but I believe many would agree that it wasn't the tactics that were poor but rather the level of performance from the players, rather and mostly unacceptable at times.

This to me showed a problem with management and players maybe? Maybe even poor man management on the part of Capello which would not surprise me to say the least.

Qualifying for the WC and Euros in convincing fashion amidst heavy Media Scrutiny considering the fact that his predecessor left off in such an unconvincing fashion. So there was more pressure than ever.

Thereby with his successful qualifying campaign ,making people once again believe that England could win an International Tournament. :vagi:

Perhaps, I would argue both, the players werent good enough and the tactics were not right. Then again, the biggest problem for me tactically (lacking of deep lying passer with defensive skills) he could do nothing about because such a player doesnt exsist in England.

I cant guess what is going on behind the scenes, but the attitude of some of the players comes off as arrogant and unprofessional.

Had crap past it players to work with , When the likes of Wilshere, sturridge and oxlade emerged, he resigned.

I would he he is the best manager we had in the last 10-20 years. He did make some crap tactical decisions but at times he had no choice.

There is no English manager out there better than him. So i worry about england, however saying that, Wont be surprised if England go beyond quarters

Array aint going to play anything other than 4411, no different from Capello...so what is going to change?

The only thing he can and will do different is select fresh player like the ones RG named which should instantly improve them.

A intresting question is, how much will Arry use his Spurs players should he join England.

Walker at rightback, Lennon on the right wing, Parker in the midfield, Dawson at centerback, Defoe and Crouch?...im sure he would like King, but thats obviously highly unlikely.

Did a decent job. At least he got England winning and was starting to call up the younger talent. Yeah, he didn't do well in major tournaments but no one could have really turned that England squad into something quality. There was just a lack of technical ability all around.

Unless someone started to teach England to grind out results, I didn't see much hope in that squad. Not good enough strikers for that.

But yeah, beat Spain and all :lucas:

He will try and impose the same system which he uses at Tottenham but nah he wont pick tottenham players cause he doesn't even like them lol, And if he does, England will be 4th in the group stages without a doubt

If he uses 4-4-1-1 then i can see Theo on the right, Perhaps Young on the left, Parker and Gerrard in the middle, Rooney in the hole ( defoe for first 3 games ) and A striker upfront. Whoever he prefers.

None of the CB's are world class atm. Terry is in shit hole right now and he hasn't been WC for a whole now. Ferdinand is no where near his best. King is always injured. Cole has been poor this season. Then again you always have Jones, RmRamos and Dawson. drunken

Darrent Bent will be forgotten for good because of his bad relationship with Arry. Lennon will always start over Walcott and Parker will be team captain lol.

Capello is a much better manager. Only plus side is that the players will be more motivated because they can understand what he is saying. :lol!:

Even then he will probably have about a month to work with the team after the season ends.
