Super Sunday Empty Super Sunday

Post by Art Morte Sun Feb 26, 2012 9:18 am

There are some brilliant match-ups in different leagues today.

If you feeling like it, discuss them here.

And what games exactly?

1) Bayern Munich v Schalke 04
Bayern Munich have conceded only 3 goals at home in 11 games this season, which is quite astonishing. However, they have still managed to lose two games at Allianz Arena. A lot at stake in this game, as these clubs are 3rd and 4th in the table with one point between them.

2) Arsenal v Tottenham
Best friends from North London enjoying a Sunday afternoon together. Should be adorable. If they have a little kick-about with the ball between their tea-drinking, who do you think will come on top?

3) Napoli v Inter
Napoli didn't give Chelsea much to cheer about in their CL clash earlier this week. Will a poor-form Inter stand any better chance tonight?

4) Valencia v Sevilla
Arguably the biggest fixture in La Liga after Real Madrid's and Barcelona's games in the past few seasons when you look at it purely results-wise; These two teams have been constantly competing with each other for CL places during those seasons. It's a different story this year, though, as Valencia look set to finish third, but Sevilla are having a shocker and are only 12th in the table at the moment. Both teams have been in poor form lately as well: Valencia have recorded just one win in last seven games while Sevilla have collected a mere 5 points from last 9 games.

5) Atletico Madrid v Barcelona
Atletico have been great at home: 6-4-1 with only 7 goals conceded. And Barcelona have all but lost La Liga's title to Real Madrid because of their average away form. Could be a cracking game coming up?

6) Cardiff v Liverpool
A match where Liverpool will win their first trophy in six years Cool

Actually, Dortmund vs Hannover will be a hotly contested match, too. Hannover wants to get into the EL spots again and Dortmund wants to keep their advantage on Bayern, BMG & Schalke.

Woah, didn't notice that Hannover are on a nine game unbeaten-streak... Still have got a feeling that Dortmund will win comfortably, though.

Well, the most interesting results for the BL table would be Schalke winning against Bayern and Hannover winning against Dortmund. Then we'd have

Dortmund 49
Schalke 47
BMG 47
Bayern 45
Leverkusen 37
Hannover 37
Werder 36

Tasty Very Happy

Even then CL spots seems pretty much done & dusted. BTW my favorite team messed up again.

ESPN-Star & Ten Sports should start telecasting German, French leagues.

Spurs showing Arsenal who's the top dog in London these days in this first 15 mins.

RVP needs to learn how to use his right foot. Just missed a great chance to equalise. 0-1 to spurs.

0-2 now, Ade with a penalty. Spurs looking really dangerous on the counter. Arsenal are really struggling.

1-2. Arsenal have a good little spell with RVP hitting the post and the ball stays in play outwide to be crossed in onto Sagna who heads home past friedel.

Looks to be a good game so far.

On a side note how EASY is it to score in the EPL! It's like teams have never heard of defence.

Just as I was writing that van persie whips in a smooth goal with a curling shot from the edge of the area leaving friedel with no chance!

It's been odd. Tottenham never looked dominant. for a while, one could be forgiven for assuming Arsenal were the team winning 2-0 by their dominance of possession. This is a completely different side than the one that lost to AC Milan and Sunderland in the last few weeks. Tottenham are capable of winning this match, but Arsenal will have nothing to be ashamed of if they can continue playing like this.

Arsenal are bound to have more possession. They're a possession oriented side but I think your giving arsenal too much credit. Tottenham did indeed dominate for a while, arsenal looked lost whenever they got near the tottenham box.

Every time tottenham break they look dangerous.

This might be a tiny bit of an overstatement but once again the only person saving arsenal is RVP. So I dunno where you've got the idea arsenal are playing better.

For the last few mins arsenal really stepped up, and credit to them for their quick to goals but that's just about it. They got 2 goals from nothing.

Nevertheless excellent game so far!

3-2 for arsenal!! Rosicky!! A loverly left foot flicked finish to finish off a nice counter.

Tottenham should hang their heads in shame!

Their midfield have stymied Modric and Parker for the most part, allowing them no time on the ball and making their linkup play with Adebayor difficult. for the last 15 minutes or so (I'm approximating, because I am not looking at the stats) of the first half, Arsenal looked to be the better team. For the first thirty minutes, I would agree with you Cassius_Case. I cannot agree that they got 2 goals out of nothing. They may have looked lost around the Tottenham box, but they were controlling the ball in that area of the pitch, putting pressure on Tottenham. Freidel did make several impressive saves prior to Arsenal's goals.

Tottenham have stepped it up a little after Rosicky's goal, but they are still not playing really well.
