Salgado - Mourinho's philosophy will never sit easy with fans

Former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado admits Jose Mourinho will never be fully embraced the club's fans, despite his overwhelming success.

"It is full credit to him (Mourinho) because he is doing everything to win," Salgado told Revista. "You have to be honest, he has been signed for Real Madrid to win and he is doing his job.

"The problem is he will never be praised in Spain, especially in Real Madrid, because the style of his football is not the normal style of Real Madrid.

"They score goals but on the counter attack and that is not the normal style of Real Madrid and its years and years of history.

"Sometimes I disagree with him with the way he approaches the game, even against Bayern Munich in the first leg (of the Champions League semi-final). He went there not to lose the game.

"He's been signed to win titles and he is winning titles and his strengths are mental. The mentality he has to prepare for games is great.

"He doesn't care about the critics or whatever the people say about him. He knows how to win; he likes a way to win and he will never change that way.

"It's about 50/50 (the fans support of Mourinho). They are really happy now because we needed to win a title, a big title."

What would you classify him? I think of him as a particular kind of DM, and one of the best ever at that in fact.

I'd classify him as a CM/DM.

But whatever , the point is , playing 5 defenders =/= defensive formation.

Our 5-3-2 was an attacking formation as was Brazil's.

5312 is just name, it played more like 3412 in attack and was very expansive.

exactly, Del Bosque could play with 8 defenders he would still make his team attack more than Mourinho.

Salgado is talking about style, about the will to dominate the opposition, to dominate the ball and to dictate the flow of the game.

Mourinho is the opposite, he sets up his teams to play against the flow.

This is going unoticed, but 5-3-1-2 does not exist .......
