Am I reading this wrong or is that a lot of backwards passes ?
I thought he was a regista not a CB

You know guys like Xavi and Schweinsteiger probably have similar numbers? The point of a regista is to keep the ball flowing, not to Hollywood pass the opposition to death.

That a third of his passes are forward passes is impressive.

These numbers are the records in serie A this season.. Not bad, he was the best Juve player, he has the most minutes played.. I think he was the best passer this season, not only Serie A!

I couldn't find Xavi's stats this season, if someone finds them, it would be great..He has 9 assists this season, fewer than pirlo's, but i don't think it's the most relevant in the comparrison of the two! Also, some paul scholes stats would be nice.

Whatever happened to the Barca stat geeks. Hmm. Scholes' stats are just for half a season so we cannot make a comparison. In any case, Pirlo = beast.

Actually I think a regista is far more likely to pass the ball backwards than a CB ...CB's can only go backwards to the keeper or their CB partner (realistically) - A regista can go backwards to all four defenders, the keeper, and occasionally other midfielders

Also one of the first things you teach midfielders is to play the way you face and dont try to turn with the ball under pressure
