How to take a Penalty for Dummies
I have noticed lately alot of the superstar players missing penalties in the pk shoot outs. Ramos, Robben, Shweini, messi, ronaldo and the list goes on. Even the fans over here make it sound like scoring a penalty is more difficult than scoring a 20 yard free-kick which is absurd ofcourse.
I hereby thought of reminding you of the basics of football; PK-101. The most difficult penalty to save for a goal keeper is the one that's aimed at his bottom left. Even if he knows where it's going, he cant stop it.
Go to 0:41mins and watch the PK taken by Nuri, that's all it takes and it's guaranteed almost all the times. I have dont this over and over again until i mastered the angle, i promise i am able to aim the ball 5 to 6 inches from the right post (left of the gk) every time. Seriously it's that easy and straight forward.

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
67,000 fans in stadium & Chelsea players coming & taking the ball & throwing it away. All diversionary tactics. You never know what happens. Robben tried to hit in LEFT Corner of GK. Schweni LEFT CORNER LOW. OLIC LEFT CORNER LOW.
All of them missed. You never know. Its not artificial or computer programmed. There are emotions involved.

Runs the risk of the keeper saving with his legs....I''ve seen Buffon save those numerous times.

More chance of scoring if you go for one of the corners.
And if you go down the middle and you miss it looks much worse imo because it looks like you were trying to be a smart ass.

Even if stats say the keeper will move 9 times out of 10, no one wants to risk looking like the biggest douche on the planet by kicking the ball directly at a keeper who doesn't even have to flinch
Pressure enough just taking the PKs as it is, let alone risking being the target of the collective rage of millions of people lol...

Buffon saved like this in Euro 2008 against Mutu.. Crucial penalty in last minute!
I think the best way is ibra's way.. He shots very powerfull up most of the time..

Exhibit A:
Now this is just some who-the-hell-cares Serie A game against a lowly opponent, not the end of the world...but can you imagine if that happened in the PKs of the CL Final???
To be fair, Totti used that exact move at Euro 2000 and it worked:

Kick it at the keeper usually works too.

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
Again, most of you watch footy on tele while eating popcorn.
I ve done that several times and it doesnt matter how many fans there is, if you re a pro, you can ignore all the distractions coming towards you.
I can take shots (as i said) one after another, within mm from each other. It takes training, but you get there. Reason players dont shoot it that close to the post is because they run the risk of hitting the post which i do frequently once in 10 penalties or so but eventually you get the feel of it and with practice you can always score them.
By the way dont look at the goal when you're shooting. Just select the corner, study the angle, let it register in your memory, then run towards the ball also looking at the ball, the image of the target point / bulls eye you have selected will come by itself and you ll be surprised at how accurate it is. If you think about it, you'll *bleep* it.

The way Zidane shot it in WC final 2006 was the best way IMO

yes, but it's one thing in an less important game...
Put robben to hit the post from 16 metres in trainings... He will hit it 19 out of 20! It's not the same thing in CL finals.. Greatest players in the world, have all missed penalties in deceisive games!

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
i didn't mean those gay lobs, i meant proper shot down the middle of the net
if you get it high enough (which in this case is anything above 0.5m above the ground) you'll inevitably avoid the keeper's feet... when was the last time you saw a keeper stand still during a penalty?
plus if you shoot right at him you have like a 100% chance of getting to the rebound even if he does stand still, which happens pretty much never

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
Best way of getting a successful penalty hit? Aim to far corners, dont use much power and avoid eye contact. Power never been a big factor when taking penaltys, its precision ofc.

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
aiming straight and trying to get a good shot as well is likely go over the bar rather than on target, therefore penalty takers aim for the posts.che wrote:i didn't mean those gay lobs, i meant proper shot down the middle of the net

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
but if you do it again again and again after games and games and games, the keeper will KNOW the chances. Srsly, you think they don't study ur penalty behaviors?

I agree that they can read your body movements easily so use of mind is important too.

Re: How to take a Penalty for Dummies
Theres no "right" way to take penalties. No right power, no right placement, no right timing
From what I've seen, confidence is the single biggest factor...
