Recent CL winners:

07/08: United (after beating Barcelona in the semis)
08/09: Barcelona
09/10: Inter (after beating Barcelona in the semis)
10/11: Barcelona
11/12: Chelsea (after beating Barcelona in the semis)
12/13: Barcelona?

I think this trend will come to an end next season tbh. I think Madrid will get it.

I don't think Madrid will,their defense is just not good enough....

hmmm bayerns 2 finals should alo be considerd in this

None of bayern's goals were the midfield's fault.fail by Ramos,fail by coentrao and Ramos-pepe then another fail by Ramos pepe.that's just 2 games but it can reflect in the tough opposition that will be in cl next season.

We'll have to wait and see but we'll get better next season for sure.

There's one more 'trend' if you look in another way.

England(2005)-Spain(2006)-Italy(2007)-England(2008)-Spain(2009)-Italy(2010)-Spain(2011)-England(2012)-2013 would most likely see an Italian or maybe a German CL winner.

This 'trend' about Barcelona isn't something new. I found it logical that teams which won Barcelona these years also won the CL , they won the most quality team around afterall.

We'll see exactly how 'goat' defense & midfield they have when they will be playing week in week out every 3-4 days.Especially Pirlo , he doesn't get along with 2 games a week. I still remember him draggin himself after the 50 minutes in periods like that.

Mourinho has won two CLs right? Both with strong defensive teams and a very good midfield. Yeah, he is not winning the CL anytime soon with this Madrid team.

Well there isn't that many teams in the knockout stages.
Recent WC and Euro winners had to defeat Germany, most UCL winners went through Bayern (and Milan, if memory serves right).

Barca might still be the team to beat, but TBH stats like that always pop up, there's only 8 teams in the quarters after all.

by that logic i can pinpoint any team's defence as weak since 90 percent of goals conceded are situations where the defense could have done better

and we lost in the lottery calling penalty shootouts in the semi finals, you act as if bayern made a mockery of our defense, put 7 , 8 past us etc

They sort of did make a mockery out of your defense, your midfield, and their own strikers, since they really did have a lot of chances, but just didn't manage to finish. Unsurprisingly, this also cost them the CL.

That being said, Jogi Löw used to say, that almost all defensive lapses start in the opposing half, and I think he's right. Just take the Real v Bayern game for example, any defense is going to look bad, if Robben, Ribéry, Özil, or CR7 are running at it full speed with the ball at their feet and into empty space. If that space exists, the midfield is as much at fault as the defense, same goes for the fact they managed to pick up speed, and receive the ball in the first place.

Defense isn't just the back four, it's the entire team.

Our defense is good enough, it's about time we stop with the myths. Usually when your team takes a goal, some defenders are at fault, and that happens every week. Even Thiagoat looked like a clown against Arsenal. When Ronaldo scored against Bayern Goatest of all goats things goat mr Lham was at fault. Chelsea despite parking the bus was still conceding countless chances. Barca with their super pressing was just getting pierced on counters. I have seen forwards making a joke of Dortmund defense, Juventus? i saw Napoli piercing through that armor just a week ago. If we are going to nitpick, not one team will get away...

So many myths, we are as capable as anyone to do it. A lot of luck involved, a lot of work, but at least we have been in those stages of the CL two years running, and we build up experience which might prove decisive at some point.

Another trend, bar last year, who ever beat Chelsea in the CL went on to win it.

i took bayern's game as an example.the thing is how consistent is your defense?how many times do you see thiago make a mistake?ive only seen him do 2 mistakes.Ramos and Pepe mess up every month.its not a myth,its the truth

I dont watch Milan at all, so i wouldnt be able to answer that. But i am pretty sure he isnt as flawless as you paint him to be. Same with Vidic in his prime or whoever, whenever Ramos or Pepe make a mistake it's hyped up to nonsensical proportions.
