Bologna to lose Viviano due to a technical mistake?

This hasn't been confirmed yet, but has been reported by Tuttomercato and Sportitalia.

Due to a complete lack of attention by their management, Bologna have lost Emiliano Viviano, whose rights tomorrow will become wholly owned by Inter. As reported in the Corriere di Bologna, Bologna wanted to offer 4.7 million euros, a figure with which they would have bought Inter's half of the goalkeeper, as Inter had bid 4.1 million. However, in the envelope, due to a technical error, the bid was of 2.35 million, exactly half of what was intended to be the real offer. Along with Bologna's hopes of keeping Viviano goes Roma's agreement which Sabatini had in place with Bologna to bring the keeper to the Capital.

According to SportItalia, Bologna made an incredible mistake in filling out the forms for the blind auction. The club is not the holder to the rights of the player, but only have a partnership and would have to fill out the form by writting on the left side the offered amount for the partnership deal (4.7 million) and the right side the remaining value of the rights to the player (4.7 million), total 9.4 million. Bologna, according to this report, divided this value by writing 2.35 million on both sides.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com, the mistake was made by Bologna's General Director, Stephen Pedrelli, who immediately regretted his mistake.

Either this is another purely invented rumour or Bologna is actually that stupid.

Bologna error hands Viviano to Inter?

It’s reported Inter have won their blind auction for Emiliano Viviano because Bologna made an amazing mistake in their paperwork.

The two clubs share ownership of the goalkeeper and failed to reach an agreement before yesterday’s deadline.

This means it’ll go to a blind auction – both sides place a figure into a sealed envelope and the highest bid wins when they are opened at 10.00 UK time this morning.

However, strong reports are emerging that Bologna lost the auction because they made a terrible mistake in the paperwork.

It’s claimed Bologna director general Stefano Pedrelli wrote in the wrong section of the bid form.

He also wrote in the wrong figure, assuming their bid for half the player’s worth (€4.7m) was split across the form.

Therefore Bologna’s offer came out as only €2.35m.

Inter are reported to have bid €4.1m, so it looks as if they have won the auction thanks purely to Bologna’s mistakes in the paperwork.

If this is true, then it’s an error with repercussions well beyond Italy goalkeeper Viviano. If Bologna had won the auction, they already had a deal to sell the Azzurri star to Roma.

Wow Bologna's team is self destructing! First they let lose the envelopes for Ekdal, Then this horrible error. At least they still have Gaston Ramirez and Di Vaio...at the moment at least.

Complete utter idiocy.....that's a shocking lack of detail on Bologna's part. I'm incredibly pissed off by this....we just lost a great keeper due to one's man's stupidity...

So in the end it's actually true. Supposedly the guy realized his mistake during his car ride home, surprised he didn't swerve onto the other side of the road for sweet relief. To be fair though Bologna did have 3 bids to fill out in the last 10 minutes, but still.

I really have my doubts on that, I think he'll end up at Genoa. We've already turned to Sirigu and Stekelenburg.
