Pffft, Lamela > Paredes in every way. In any event I don't see why you guys would sing a FWD (unless Osvaldo leaves) when it's pretty clear you need to purchase a passing midfielder, a CB, a FB and possibly a GK.

Linked with Rafael Santos and Julio Cesar. Stek's a good keeper, but Cesar is easily better and knows Serie A..

Ajax's Toby Alderweireld (CB, born in 1989, 23 international caps) has been blocked by Roma according to Sky.

25-year old Etienne Capoue of Toulouse has also been linked with Roma - Vocegiallorossa.

He's rated at 12m.

To elaborate on Alderweireld, obviously this is not official. Sources say he has a price tag around 10 million euros.

I've had a look at him for Belgium and he's decent. 10m is a bit steep however.

He's Ajax's vice captain though and we all know what happens to those guys as well as the skippers.

Good decision-making ability and he's got an engine on him, but I wonder how he fits in among a chaotic Roman back line. He seems rather settled at Ajax naturally and the same with Belgium, but for 10m....it's a risk. He could be another Vertonghen or another Vermaelen at this point.

If he does indeed come in...would be beneficial to keep Stekelenburg.

He plays more like Vertonghen than Vermaelen, from the Ajax matches I've watched. I'd take him at Liverpool ahead of the others we've been linked with.

Great talent, another belgian talent. Magic generation for belguim currently.

Douglas Costa would be a dream. But only if we sell OSvadlo, because hes more of a forward than a midfielder. Ofcourse if we would play 4-2-3-1 he could play in the wings also. Only 22 too.

Lets get Alderweireld and Nainggolan. Keep all the other players. Maybe a striker if Osvaldo leaves.

None of these players is really expensive or world class... and the americans have money, they just dont want to spend too much.

Of that group, only Nainggolan can possibly become WC if he takes a step up from Cag.

Those guys are all possibly EL level at least though. I'd take em all for the depth.

Nainggolan is good, but that would mean that one of our midfielders will have to be benched. But, first, i would wait for the confirmation of our manager for next season. For example, if we play 4-4-2 next season we have no need for centremidfielders..an so on.

Toby Alderweireld is very similar to Vertonghen.I really hope we snap him up.

Sky Sport Italia report they have surpassed Napoli in the race for Udinese defender Benatia, snapping up the Moroccan international for €10m.

Meanwhile, Roma are also said to be close to Santos goalkeeper Rafael, which frees Maarten Stekelenburg to join Fulham.

Dutch international Stekelenburg is expected to put pen to paper at Craven Cottage by Tuesday.

Both would be wonderful. They really would. Benatia is class and brazilians have always found it easy in Roma. Rafael is young and he really cant do worse than Stek.

Rafael, at his young age, is actually more experienced than Goico so that's encouraging considering that he has over 100 appearances for Santos.
