Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
Title says it all...is he? i think he is, by a mile.
-gervinho is useless;
-walcott is inconsistent and terrible when defences are deep.

looks like it to be honest, Theo is inconsistent and useless when there is no space. Gervinho is sloppy and has no end product plus he can't cross. Arshavin gave up a long time ago. It's really depressing at the moment

I think we have only two genuine wingers. Ox and Walcott. Between the two i would say Ox. Both has pace but the Ox is good in taking on defenders and beating them with trickery.
However with only a handful of games under his belt, it is hard to say how good he really is.

Simply No!!
Ox is nowhere ready to be in our starting 11 atm, he is good but he too is inconsistent. And his future is in the middle not in the wings.

Re: Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
may be he is a cm.. But atm.. He is the best option in wing.. Walcott is inconsistent and cant dribble past anyone and not to mention his crosses.. Gervinho is good only if he manages to make the final pass or get a good shot.. And he doesnt cross..Legend wrote:Simply No!!

Too early to assess Podolski..
Just thinking.. Wont it be interesting if we play Santos as the LM..? He may not be that quick.. But he has good dribbling, passing and crossing skills.. Better shot too..

I think Podolski looked better on the wings/second striker

His attributes are best suited on the Wing at the moment, he has pace, power, skill and technique. He will play centre mid later on his career but at the moment the wing is his best position.

Re: Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
There is a big difference between proven talent and potential talent.
Proven talent I would give to Podolski currently. He has years of proven quality for club and country. We will just have to wait and see if he can duplicate it here.
Potential talent would be OX. A handful of sub appearances does not make proven talent and we do not even know if his best position is on the wing or in the center.
Walcott is one dimensional and Gerv is just frustrating.

Re: Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
If there is one thing we can expect, is that Ox will do very well at Arsenal. He has the drive and determination, while his father is a major positive influence on his career and will keep him in check. So i am not worried about Ox's talent or ability to succeed, it is just a matter for him before he starts pulling in exceptional performances on a consistent basis.

Oxlade will be a wc player but I still think it would be best for him to go on a loan for year.

Re: Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
Podolski doesn't really provide width though. He's more like a 2nd striker. Arsenal needs a winger that provides width and can cross. gervinho should do that but he's shat. I think you guys need to go get one tbh...

Once again Ox did nothing to be considered anywhere to be our best winger or starting 11.
He still has alot to learn

Yeah... Ox is not really impressing right now. But he does defend. That's a key and it should be. Walcott can't defend.

are you freaking kidding me? today he showed why he is BY FARRRRR our best winger. He didnt beat his man every time he had the ball, but NO WINGER does thats not even ronaldo. what ox does that gervinho and walcott dont do is that when he has a bad game he still KEEPS THE BALL TICKING and adds fluidity and sharpness to our game. whether you like it or not gervinho and walcott dont do that. ox needs to play and keep on playing.

Walcott too does his far bit of defending, not as good Ox but does it
and i don't even want to answer REWB, he is a clueless, still thinks Diaby is useless.

Re: Is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain our best winger?
didnt see the game but, even if he didnt play at his best, he did proabably help our passing game. Not that surprising that our best passing so far was with him on the pitch intead of 3 strikers as wenger put it (with 2 of them on the wing)

Oxlade isn't a winger for me. He has always played better when in Midfield. Don't think he will be playing out on the wings in few years
