Llorente no, Drogba maybe
Juventus' hopes of signing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente have been hit but Didier Drogba has emerged as a surprise target.
The reigning Serie A champions are intent on signing a proven, international class striker but doing so is proving an ordeal. Llorente is said to be keen on a move to Turin but his club have frozen the Spanish international out and are driving a hard bargain.
“If Juventus really want Llorente they should hunt down every cent of his €36m clause,” Bilbao President Josu Urrutia told Canal Plus after his side lost 4-0 to Atletico Madrid in Llorente's absence last night.
“The future of Llorente is not in our hands. I've always said that a player can go if they don't care about Athletic anymore or if someone pays their termination clause, but these conditions do not exist.
“He's an Athletic player and we continue to rely on him.”
Meanwhile financial problems at Drogba's new club Shanghai Shenua could open the door for a shock swoop, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Chinese club are owned by tycoon Zhu Jun and by five state owned companies.
However a dispute over the transferral of shares between Jun and the state owned companies has put Shenua's funding in jeopardy, meaning their big name players could be on the market soon.
Foremost amongst those big names is Drogba, who only joined the Chinese Super League outfit earlier this summer. The Ivorian forward helped Chelsea win last season's Champions League, scoring a late equaliser and the decisive penalty in a shoot out with Bayern Munich.

Re: Llorente no, Drogba maybe
I see a few problems with this potential transfer. I am guessing that Drogba's new Chinese team gave him a contract that Juve won't match. Even if we agree to a fee for Drogba with the team, the transfer may not go through because of salary disagreements.
I really hope that we don't pay a transfer fee for a player that we could have gotten on a free transfer. This whole problem is a result of Juve not meeting the asking price for a player like Jovetic.

Here we go again, starting from scratch.
I understand signing a top player has barriers but we should (not could) be getting one. What will probably happen is Drogba will want more money than we will pay and before you know it it's deadline day and we end up with Bendtner or Osvaldo.

I also think his wage demands could be a problem, but in the same breath he also just said he did not join the team for the money but for the challenge.......(yeah rite) Lets see if someone calls his bluff

Re: Llorente no, Drogba maybe
If he wanted a challenge and not a crazy wage packet then he could have went to rangers in the 3rd division. Played infront of 50,000 people on home days and had a fairly respectable wage.

Bilbao holding out for the release clause on a player who only has one year on his contract and doesn't want to play for Bilbao anymore
Hope he leaves for free next season and they dont get a penny!

Re: Llorente no, Drogba maybe
I think Llorente and Juve are just playing games with each other. Bilbao is probably looking to see if they can get a few million more from Juve or another team. Juve isn't moving on its final offer, but may go up a little if they are forced to. I think someone will surrender at the last second or we will sign someone else.

Not true at all.
He has not forced a move at all. Basque players are very loyal to Athletic.

So not wanting to renew your contract is what?

I'll refer you to Ziegler's case
I'm sure it's possible, but I also doubt it will happen

Re: Llorente no, Drogba maybe
in ziegler case we loaned him out after his transfer to turin, however in this case that's unlikely to happen (regarding his age and wages)Luca wrote:MMM wrote:one question guys, drogba has moved once in this transfer window, is he able to change the club again?!

Re: Llorente no, Drogba maybe
It's time we face reality...we NOT getting a striker this transfer season...
We are just gonna have to stick with Matri & Quags or try Spain's tactic by using a midfielder as a striker...
Juve were stupid to not sign back Ciro Immobile...I really don't know how the hell we sign Boakeye who score 13 goals in Serie B & not Ciro who scored 28 in the same league, what sense does that really make?
Why didn't we send Boakeye on loan & keep Ciro for depth or incase of we not getting any other striker...
Marotta is doing a great job but that is what I don't understand...why not give Ciro a chance?

Juventus signed Ziegler
And then moved him in the same window, it was a loan with an option to buy, that option just wasn't exercised
Theoretically, Juventus could sign Drogba
but Lord knows that they won't

I don't think that's right, Luca. Drogba would have to move on a loan with an option to buy also. The option to buy doesn't complete the transfer until the option is exercised. Therefore, Ziegler was just a loan. The option means nothing.
Either way, I don't think he's coming, so we shouldn't worry about it.

I've been wondering this myself! Ciro looks like a future super star. Did you see his goal against Cagliari last weekend? What a left footed strike. Guy knows how to score, has power, pace, ball control, heading ability. Genoa will want crap
Loads more for his half rights next season after he bags 10-15 goals easy this year.

I am just speaking about him not that I think it will happen. He is strong, tall, has good heading. has good shot he was a bit unlucky and scapegoat for pool and I tbh I think the tactics were not the right ones for him.
I would still let Boakye shine....

I want nothing to do with Andy Carroll. I really don't.
He might do well in serie A but not a risk I would even consider.
