Liverpool would be better off giving an academy boy the spot on the bench.

you can't really terminate a conract when nothing is official either.

brilliant.
He thinks ADP is a very bad player so he clearly knows nothing about him. But what can you do it's a forum after all.

Re: Del Piero to Liverpool
The fact that people are getting so offended by this is making me laugh.
I'm not insulting the player of ten years ago. Del Piero has no business, today in his current state, being under contract at Liverpool FC or any Premier League club in contention for European places. A-League is a good spot for him where he can still show some of the class he has left against players of much, much lower quality.

Re: Del Piero to Liverpool
ADP would be an impact sub for Liverpool when they currently have suarez who is extremely poor infront of goal when you take his chances into account. Don't judge him on the CI match the whole team was very poor. They were out on open top bus's celebrating the scudetto etc whilst Napoli were preparing for their only chance of silverware in a long time. It's no excuse but that doesn't mean ADP is bad based on one game. I could give an example of any player in the world being sh*t if I used one game to justify my opinion.
He was still a game changer for us at times and if age was not an issue then he could have stayed easily.

He's signing only for $2million per year for Sydney....Alex could've got more anywhere else. He wasn't even on a big contract Juve.

He's not about the money, but obviously it's a big positive to earn it. He had a very low salary (In football terms, don't moan about your personal salaries) at Juve I think at one point he was earning somewhere near 20,000 per week on a 1 Million euros per year contract.

That's what I'm saying. He's at the end of his years. Should've just gone to an Arab league and earned as much as he could before retiring. He is a class guy, nonetheless, no one would would question his class if he tried to make bank at this point in his career.

Re: Del Piero to Liverpool
I imagine his decision was mostly a lifestyle choice. Some players are willing to accept what comes with living in counties on the gulf or in the far east and are willing to adapt their life to that big change. He doesn't seem like someone overly driven by money, which is admirable as the reality is he earn's more than enough to lead a happy and fruitful life.
Sydney has a large italian community, good education for his young kids and good healthcare (not that he couldnt get the same earning the sort of money he's on in most countries).
In terms of earning, there is a good opportunity for him to secure strong income through commercial means. I dont want to say that theres a bigger market for him in Australia as I don't know how it would compare to the far-east and gulf.. but it needs to be factored in when discussing salary short-fall.
These Marquee players that come to Australia are put on a pedestal, he would have been convinced by Sydney FC that he will play a major part in the progression of the sport in Australia - and I hope he can. Most Sydney siders are into rugby league and things need to change.

Or you know, we were never interested and the agent was trying to get more money out of Sydney?

Re: Del Piero to Liverpool
Truly disappointed he could not join Liverpool. He would have brought a superb element of class, leadership and presence to Melwood and could actually teach the younglings how to finish.
I respect his decision mostly because I respect ADP as much as my own club decisions. I truly wish him a fantastic life and will even tune in to watch Sydney FC. Most Aussie's sadly will overlook him being the best forward player for Juve last season and observe his age instead. They'll be proven wrong.
Agnelli is an arrogant bidone who will regret letting ADP go.

Re: Del Piero to Liverpool
i dont much ab out the issue but i read somewhere that if adp did join pool he was in danger of losing the respect of juventinos and that might be one of the reasons he didnt join the kop?( reference to heysel)
