Re: Fifa's new ranking
It would make more sense (to me, too) if people used it for nationality, as that doesn't often change whereas your location might. I'm anyway more interested in knowing where somebody's from than where he's currently staying.
Err, Fifa rankings? England will rebound!!

Well I was born, raised and currently reside in the U.S. So that's where the u.s flag comes from but both of my folks and my entire family from before my generation and back are all Colombians in Colombia. It just so happens that i just returned last night to the states from visiting family in Colombia, lol. So I'm very supportive of the NT. It might also have to with the fact that I was also visiting in 2001 during our CA win and got celebrate in the streets with pretty much the whole country. But yeah, I consider myself as Colombian American.

Brazil deserves better than 12th... Greece by no means are a better consistent team...

They lost the olympics with their main team against Mexico's B team.. they deserve to be below Mexico. The Sanchez wrote:Brazil deserves better than 12th... Greece by no means are a better consistent team...

Re: Fifa's new ranking
The country profile may be used as users to see fit, whether this be to make note of their location, citizenship, identity or otherwise, including being left blank.
On topic, Uruguay's slide down the rankings has been dramatic, though they've undoubtedly played some very difficult fixtures. The balance between defensive solidity and a talismanic forward line has been lost with Forlan's decline, hopefully they can arrest their recent slide and recover their place.

Brazil are so low because they're not playing in the qualifiers, so they're only playing friendlies, which earn you the least amount of ranking points.

Re: Fifa's new ranking
Damn, I still cant believe that the B mexico side pulled olympic gold over Brazil when Brazil, on paper, had their best chance to pull their 1st (1ST!!!!) gold. And thats no diss to Mexico, but it just shows that Brazil isn't looking all that for their own WC. And they damn near HAVE to win that.Donuts wrote:And because they lose all matches that matter.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Brazil are so low because they're not playing in the qualifiers, so they're only playing friendlies, which earn you the least amount of ranking points.

Although, you know whats gonna answer some ?s???? 5 days from now, Colombia vs. Brazil on the 14th. Brazil might not be on form but I'd still consider it an upset if Colombia can pull of a win. I cannot wait for this match.

Man, i don't know about you, but this i view this current Brazil side this way:
After Dunga, the NT included many young talents that have showed great promise, like Neymar, Damiao, Lucas Leiva, Ganso, Oscar, etc, etc and these complemented the already established stars like Thiago Silva, Marcelo, etc.
Now, these young starlets had not really done a damn thing to be recognized as world class talents, but Brazil being Brazil and the world enamored with that yellow jersey really bought these young guys as the big established next gen things.... And things are still the same way for many of them. Oscar made the big jump to a European star, but guys like Neymar or Damiao are still big international question marks that may or may not be the best things since sliced bread. Also some guys like Ganso have already flopped apparently, which was also to be expected by anyone reasonable.
So all in all, its not really fair to put this young Brazil side to side with Brazil teams of past filled with Established superstars. These kids are still learning about defeats against sides like Mexico, and should be working hard to demonstrate the world that yes, they are the next big thing.
12th place for Brazil is more than fair considering whats happened in these last years.

This is true. Going to Europe would only help them mature as players if they were to go the right clubs that is. But while they are very young to be carrying such a nation, that only adds tons of pressure to their already mediocre results. Theyve had some dominating friendlies lately but thats about it. As far as comparing them to some of Brazil's better squads in the past? I guess I'd say to wait til the confederations cup at least, just to get an idea because theyre NOT the Joga Bonito Brazil of the past. Not yet anyways.

It's funny, I started freestyling at the resort I was at and actually drew a small crowd. I had NO idea that they had a football team, let alone are recognized by FIFA as a NT.
