It's very well documented that he actually supported Atletico Madrid, and hated Real Madrid, actually, in his time, Barca was the team with the most domestic titles wins, after them were Atletico. At that time, Real Madrid were only finding silver in Europe. If anything, he tried to make Real Madrid loose, and on several occasions tried to help Barca and Atlti, while offering no support for Real Madrid.

Stop exaggerating, he didn't hate Madrid.

He wasn't really a big fan of the game however Real's impressive run of success acted as an invaluable ambassador for the country and Franco.
