Gennaro Gattuso vs Edgar Davids

I go for Davids since in addition to being a great destroyer he had some great skills as well.

Plus he’s one of my all times favorite so I’m a little biased

Well Gattuso is one of my all time favourites so I'm biased too lol. Both of them are/were damn beasts in the midfield.

gattuso was undoubtedly a beast in his prime..but apparently he has lost his footballing skills ..all he can do now is pushing ,shoving,rugby tackling and of course he loves confrontations..the same cant be said abt davids..i think he was pretty good in his 30s and he had some offensive skills to go along with his solid defensive skills..and i also consider davids as the more 'glamorous' player..i would pick davids over gattuso..

Davids FTW ... he always had those moves and touches that Gatusso missed I respect Gatusso thou for his fighting spirit and spirit tbh I loved him always he is nuts lol

but Davids is davids ....he used to run like he was chased by a Lion lol without stopping

That's so difficult for me. I adore both. Great midfielders and both were an inspiration (and still are) for me when I started playing football. I will have to go with Davids just because he played for Juventus though.

Gennaro for his 2003-2008 performances where he and Pirlo had one of the best midfield partenrships in the modern game.

Also, he had a monster 2006 world cup, where he played in a level that Davids never reached.

IMO Davids maintained his peak longer, and is more varied, but Gattuso had a higher peak, and is the stronger hustler of the two. Looking at the distance stats for Gattuso in his peak years is like looking at the stats of a marathon runner. Even averaging 12 kilos in the 2007 Champions League.

Gennaro is a fighter we all know that.But we also know that he is lacking speed,pace,dribble,etc.On the other side Davids had it all in his carrer !

Oh please. Skills is out of the question here, then Davids is the obvious choice, however as a player being a 'pitbull' or a 'fighter' which I assume is the main purpose of this comparison, then the obvious answer goes to Gattuso. Either or he is a World Champion and a legendary Italian Midfielder, add him to the likes of Pirlo. In fact Gattuso was placed in what our all time greats Italy.

Gattuso is unproven in England.

Davids wins my vote this time

Gattuso made Ronaldo his bitch when they played United

I have never seen a player as passionate as Gattuso on the football pitch.

Except Gattuso got more goals and assists then he has in his entire career last year. He is starting to lose it with his tackling but is still trying to grow even at his age.

Put it this way, if you ask people in 20 years who do you remember Gattuso or Davids?

Right away they will say Gattuso...

That will be because of the World Cup. That's the only thing separating Gattuso from Davids, the World Cup.

Gattuso's technique certainly hasn't declined with age, he's improved and quite obviously learnt from his time at Pirlo's side throughout his career. Davids however was simply the more complete player, even if he may not be remembered over Gattuso - though in fairness he should have won Euro 2000 with the Netherlands - and whilst Gattuso will always be preferred in my heart, Davids deserves this.
