Cairo: 'Juve will never have Ogbonna'
Torino President Urbano Cairo stoked the fires ahead of tonight’s Derby della Mole by pledging “Juventus will never have Angelo Ogbonna.”
The Granata visit the Juventus Stadium for the first time this evening and it is the first Serie A Turin derby since 2009. Click here for a match preview.
“I am fired up,” declared the patron in Tuttosport. “Turin is above all the city of Toro. We are very happy to be playing the derby.
“It’s difficult to compete, as Juventus make six times as much as we do, but that doesn’t mean we can’t beat them in a one-off game with particular emotional situations when passion plays a big part. It’s fundamental to me that we believe.”
The rapport between the city rivals extends to the transfer market, where Juve have consistently shown an interest in defender Ogbonna.
“Angelo is a good lad and above all an honest guy. He is not remotely thinking about going to Juventus because he loves Toro.
“The day he does leave Toro, he will have so many foreign offers that it won’t even cross his mind to join the Bianconeri. No, Juventus will never have Ogbonna.
“As for Rolando Bianchi, I paid him handsomely and kept him in Serie B. I do agree there will be a time when we need to sit down around a table to discuss his contract, but there is no rush.”
