5 most overrated fullbacks

Zabaleta, Arbeloa, Van Der Wiel, Maggio, Alba

cant think of a top 5 but I think that Lahm is overrated as hell.Im not saying he is a bad or average player,he is definitely the best RB alongside Alves but people always say he is some kind of goat FB at defending and he isnt.

Seriously, Marcelo must be the most overrated fullback of all time. There is a reason he gets benched in almost all big (away) games by Mourinho.

First- Supercopa is not a big game.

Second. We lost every one of the games he was benched in. We won or dominated each of the return legs he started in. He was a HUGE reason for that.

The reason Mourinhio benches him in tough away fixtures is because Mourinhio doesn't enjoy putting his trust in talented players. He rather those who can do a job.

How is Alba overrated?

Lahm. He is the best RB in the world after Alves, but he is not as good as ppl make him out to be.

How is Zab overrated? All people call him on here is average, even the Argentine fans call him that. If anything he is slightly better than that. He is City most reliable fullback and of the 4 they have, the one I would always pick first personally.

Does anyone rate Arbeloa and Der Wiel anymore?

Anyway, this depends on what you ask. Everyone rates players differently so it is what is is.

Arbeloa was a top 3 defensive FB in 2011-12, but his level decreased very much.

I'd also replace Arbeloa with Coentrao. Like Coentrao... but he is not showing up at all right now. He's the heir to Gago at Madrid.

Van Der Wiel... well, he's worse than any rating anyone could possibly have. If you consider him a footballer, you're overrating him.

True, I think City fullbacks are more overpriced than overrated but I get your point none the less.

Coentrao I cant figure out, he is much better for Portugal. Maybe its just NT football, which I feel is a lower level.

I agree with this. I actually think he's underrated, because most of the time he isn't rated at all..

yeah, not the player he once was it seems like.. maybe just a really bad slump

VDW really looked out of his element against CR in the euros.. haven't seen too much of him before that, but he was good in the WC'10

Lahm is a solid footballer but he is definitely a bit overrated..

Arbeloa isn't overrated imo. he was always a reliable full-back but not really special and that hasn't changed

Maggio was a beast before he got a nasty injury, especially in the CL but didn't play for a long time after the Chelsea games, and hasn't looked the same since

My opinion of Cole is, he is still very good if you give him one role. You just cant ask him to take care of the entire flank anymore.

Now, if you ask him to get forward very little and simply protect that side. He can still do it if the defence and midfield has a level of organization.

I see him look bad when he has the task of attacking and the responsibility of creating an overlap and backing up play. Then he isnt in a good starting position and has to use up energy.

No one rates Arbeloa or Van Der Wiel. Arbeloa probably only gets rated because he is a constant starter for Spain and RM ffss....

Arbeloa was good last season and I thought he had a very good Euros actually,he was solid and he got forward a lot providing an outlet.Even though he didn't do much with the ball he was/is comfortable in possession.

Have you watched Zaba this year? He's putting Cafu to shame. If anything, he's underrated.

Also, no one rated VDW and Arbeloa anymore, so they can't be overrated.

okay fine I've done my fair share of overrating him, but that's only because he's having the best season of his life and people should be aware of that

The most over-rated fullback is that retarded dude who plays for Spurs.

Sometimes he scores in crucial moments, for example: against Arsenal and Newcastle. He also had a good season so far. He is not the perfect LB, but he is playing well at the moment...Anyway, I won't try to convince you about his quality.
