Yeah and Iker is awful at controlling the box as said ^

In fact, Iker himself would not be ideal for us with his old school non kicking game.

But more importantly, I said I like Masip, but lets not get it twisted, he will never be at the level Iker is/was at.

Thank God in heaven for this news. I only feel bad because he was a great representative of Barca's as a person.

I really wish the English press will finally do what they have been trying to do for a couple years now and get De Gea out of the EPL.

I would be so happy with Valdes somewhere else where he would have to face a normal amount of shots per game and De Gea in net for Barca.

I actually think this has a very good chance of happening.

I love Valdes, why wouldn't he renew? This is shocking to me.

Sure he's made his errors but so has every other keeper. I don't know anyone else better 1v1 than Valdes in the world and that in addition to being good with your feet are the most important qualities for a Barcelona keeper.

I think he's replaceable, but he's been here so long, it will hurt to see him leave if he does, and it sounds like he wants to.

I think he is tired of not getting credit.

Everyone says its easy at Barca and when he can go 5 games without making a meaningful save very easily its hard for him to look good.

That and he probably just wants a change of scenery I guess.

He might just be holding out for a better contract, but if he does go then i'd bet Pinto takes over.

I believe that most of the things you guys have said: Crosses, box control, height are not important at all for Barcelona, the #1 priority is first touch and quick distribution.

Its of paramount importance for Barcelona that the goalkeeper is a good passer, if that falls apart and the keeper has to punt the ball or misplace a pass a huge part of the possession game will be lost. Opponents will start to heavily press the team and they will be forced to play to their physical weaknesses.

I bet Tito prefers Pinto to Guaita any day.

Yeah its not important but i do feel it would help a lot if they had someone who had those traits will being decent with the ball.

Barca have conceded a lot of goals with Valdes because he doesn't dominate his box at all well among other things which i mentioned.

Its just something to consider.

Also i don't know why you mention Pinto because he's terrible with the ball at his feet, he's a good GK in general but as far as first touch and distribution goes he is awful.

Guaita while it may not be his outstanding trait is still a lot better than Pinto with the ball at his feet.

Funnily enough from my perspective Lloris is pretty decent with the ball at his feet and distribution from what I've seen, and he's an absolute beast at controlling the box and shot stopping.

Levy won't let him go for cheap though and probably price Barca out of a move unless they make a big money move for a keeper.

He has a contract til 2014 so we have at least a year and a half more left of him.

I actually applaud him for doing so, there's no real challenge in winning trophies with a team that contains about 5/6 Top 15 players.

Am I the only one thinking it might be difficult for a non-Spanish speaking goalkeeper to go to Barcelona? You can't really afford language barriers between your 'keeper and the outfield players - plus you might not settle in very well if everyone but you speak Spanish. Just a thought.

Valdes better then Hart and Handanovic who both are world class goalkeepers? Yea let's not get carried away here. Both are comfortable better.

Even Sirigu of PSG is better now who has been near immaculate of two seasons now.

Handanovic I don't even know who he is, but I'm pretty sure that Valdes is better than Abiati or this scrub playing for Inter right now.

Regarding Hart, yes, he is better to him by a country mile. Also, he can play with his feet, which Hart can't.

If Valdes is worse than Hart, Sirigu or Handawhonovic, we are very lucky that he is leaving, we can easily replace him signing any scrub from midtable in Italy or so like when these guys were signed and we'll be fine.
