Phillipe Senderos got Arsenal to the champions league final ffs and look where he is now . Im not going to appreciate varane until we have seen for a few more years, he is still very young .

varane has maybe had one or two games where he was rusty in the 30 or so appearances he's made with Real Madrid. This is not a one game thing.

And this is real madrid, not arsenal. You have guys like Pepe, Ramos, Carvalho and Albiol to fight through. You don't outplay those guys regularly if you're not something special.

Finally, Mou, pepe, cr7, etc. have all said that they know Rafa will be one of the best if not the best CB in the world very soon. In their minds, it's a matter of when, not if. Unless he gets injured, i don't see him falling off. He's too smart and composed both on and off the pitch to go sideways. He doesn't party, he lives in a 2 bedroom apartment that's not crazy and he's the only one who trains as hard as CR7... he just has the it" factor.

30 games isnt that great a sample, sportsczy , but i take your point and i agree, he is a great talent, i hope we see more great defensive talents like him arise in world football .

this kid puts ramos, pepe, and arbeloa to absolute shame.

imagine if he was paired with someone else who could defend. madrid wouldnt concede.

Not a fair comment at all. I think Varane is one of the better defender i have seen playing against this barca. He puts many lads to shame with the way he is playin. Kid is ice, it's like he takes less breath than other players on the pitch, sees everything, takes the best decision all the time. we are blessed
