Re: Arsenal Rumors Thread
But it does bring out the fact that we might be interested in a AM/Wing player in the mould of Cazorla or Rosicky - take that with Theo's desire for the central role and AW saying he works with Podolski through the middle.
Although Wenger does like a good AM, I doubt we've serious interest in one this summer. Walcott's desire to play through the middle is clearly secondary to Wenger's belief that he's better as a wide forward and I think many people would agree with him; Walcott just plain isn't suited to be a lone striker, lacking the selfless movement and ability to hold up the ball to bring teammates into the game.
What he says about Podolski is interesting, especially since he seems to prefer Cazorla on the left nowadays, but I still can't see him as a striker for us in the long-term; maybe he'll fill in there occasionally, but not as a permanent solution to the position. At 27, it's hard to see just how much he can improve his movement.

So, instead of looking to bring in an out and out top top top striking option, Wenger might be looking to replace the likes of Bendtner/Chamakh/Park/Arshavin (who will all leave this summer, hopefully) with attacking/wide players and possibly a second choice striker to rotate with Giroud/Podolski/Theo.
I've thought about this too - if Wenger feels confident that Walcott and/or Podolski can make the switch over to a central attacker in Arsenal's system (this last qualifier is crucial), then the need for a high quality ST signing is lessened and the focus can shift to an area we otherwise might think we're not lacking in, i.e., another really dynamic creative wide attacking player.
This does seem much less likely than the obvious option (which is to focus on getting a ST & DM/CM), but if Wenger's convinced Poldi or Theo can successfully convert, it could happen.
The thing about Jovetic is that he could actually fit into either plan, which is one more box to tick as to why he'd be such an ideal signing.
The problem is that Jovetic, while a superb player who might one day become "world class" (though I don't like that term much), also will probably still take some time to adapt, and if he ends up at Arsenal you know that some fans & journalists will attack him the first match he doesn't score a hat trick in. Whereas somewhere like Man City, where he'd be simply one 20m+ striker in a bunch, any difficulties he'd have adapting would probably be better disguised.

This is very interesting. If Arsene believes Bellerin can step it up and become our backup to Jenkinson from next season I could see this happening. Or if we signed another experienced RB who can do a job for a year or two.
Although best would be if we just keep Sagna AND sign Sakho
Sagna - Koscielny - Sakho - Gibbs
dat defence
I agree, I want to see the club keep Sagna too - having him is preferable to any situation where we don't have him, IMO. But I suspect that the club would be amenable to a situation where he's sold for a solid fee. Just seems like if rumors are to be believed, Sakho is going to try to leave PSG as long as Ancelotti is there, PSG will probably be happy to sell him in that circumstance, and if they want Sagna ... well, stranger things have happened.

Re: Arsenal Rumors Thread
I reckon Podolski has the potential to play as our CF. Don't get me wrong i don't have an extensive knowledge on him, as i haven't seen him play for Koln back in the day, but he's got a great shot and he's a good finisher imo. If he can become great there (AW was also saying he has spent alot of time playing him there - maybe in training) then we could play walcott and ox on the wing, or replace ox with cazorla and put wilshere alongside Arteta with Rosicky in front of them.
------wilshere-arteta------
Walcott--Rozza--Cazorla
------------Podolski---------
And maybe next season replace Rosicky with Fabregas

Wouldn't mind him to be honest, watched him a few times this season. Can play behind the striker or on the wing. Plus them shirt sales

Shirt sales are good, but don't think attacking midfield/wing is an area that needs strengthening this summer unless a couple of players leave. Plus we've got some promising talent there like Miyaichi, Campbell and Gnabry.

If Wenger signs Inui or a player like him - or just if rumors & reports about interest in a player like this grow - then you have to think that maybe Gervinho really is off somewhere, no?

Re: Arsenal Rumors Thread
Rubbish!
He's basically Gervinho 2.0, great dribbling no end product, if we want a Japanese from the Bundesliga Kiyotake is one to look for - a proper fantasista every attacking team loves to have, but I don't think we need more attacking midfielders.
However if we are after an attacking midfielder Kiyotake, Mkhitaryan or Eriksen would be my choices!
