Change formation 3-4-3

I read an article in sport.es that Pep is considering changing the formation to 3-4-3 to accommodate Cesc's arrival. In that case, we would need to lose one of the defenders. This formation will be employed in case of highly defensive play of our opponents. What do you guys think about it?

I think this would be overdoing it.

this formation could be used against small teams maybe..but not in big matches for sure... especially, teams playing with 10 defenders against us could be very useful...

Do u think that this Line-up against Madrid Mourinho or Inter Mourinho could work??

Busq will drop back in counter attacks to help the CBs..

I think we would lose out on too much width with such a formation for Pep to be truly considering it.

ridiculous article from sport.no way are we using 3 defenders.if cesc comes he has to accept a bench or rotation role at max.i think sanchez has a better chance at breaking into the first 11.

I just think that our fullbacks couldn't be effective in anyway, since a 3-4-3 would pretty much eliminate that. And after seeing last season, it's definitely better if we had to CBs at the back at ALL times, instead of just one and a DM.

If it's true, its something he should only mess around with in friendlies, assuming we actually do get Cesc ffs.

I too think it would not work 90% of times. But with the teams that park the buss, it might work out. The defender line could change, i just copied the sport.es formation, it could look like Khaled suggested.

I think our formation changes when we play park the buss weaker teams into something like this (correct me if I am wrong):

And most of the times we can hardly grind a 1-0 result. So it clearly dos not work that good. And most of the time Pique goes forward and Busy drops a bit. So adding more firepower up front could possibly unlock the game while having a bit more constant back-line in case of surprise counters.

What do you guys think?

Even against "park the bus" teams, how is this a good idea?

How is adding another midfielder going to help? There is no space for passes to get through, adding another passer wont do anything.

So you think the strategy we are using is working well, or we need something totally different. I personally would not come out with such a strategy, but since i saw it, i thought it would be nice see your opinion.

I really cant make my mind to would it be bad as you said cuz i think your point is valid, or it could unlock the game or even push opponents to making more mistakes as the things get tougher in midfield. I know Barca play better than most in tight spaces. Just take a look at Messi, Alves, Xavi etc. passing the ball in microscopic area. So creating more pressure in the upper third makes opponent loose nerves, make mistakes, while we keep the back-line ready for counters + Bussy helping in such case.

Makes sense as to why we arent hungry after another CB.

Firstly the old adage - do not fix what is not broken.

Secondly two major problems straight away I can see and there may be more.

1. More defensively vulnerable

2. Less freedom for Messi to continue at his current level of excellence

If they tried it out against smaller clubs I wouldnt hate to see how it works out.

Btw, what was the third team to get promoted this season? I didn't keep up with that (was it Granada?)

Barca are doing great atm it aint worth changing formation for 1 player.

Actually the + and - buttons are so close to each other that people could at times be giving the wrong rep by mistake.
