Whats going on with these people?

Is it tradition or just a coincidence?

Iv managed a few Indians in middle east a few years ago and they seemed like great people.

It's media attention that has exploded, that is all. Nothing has changed. We still have around 500 rapes a year in the bigger cities.

Reported Rape (2010) (per 100,000 population):
India: 2.0 (2011)
Sweden: 63.5
US: 27.3
South Africa: 127.6
Australia: 79.5

Even accounting for underreporting, India is not as bad as a lot of countries. Don't let the media hysteria fool you.

those stats mean nothing in places like south asia, and 90% of rapes are not reported..

Definition of rape is also different, you would be surprised what is classified as rape under Swedish law.

Like I said, even after you account for all those differences, the statistics aren't that bad. Even if 90% of rapes are not reported, and 70% of swedish rapes are incorrect/sexual harassment rather than actual rape, the statistics are STILL in favour of India not being nearly as bad as being portrayed in the media.

Somehow I doubt that. Anyways, India could do with better trained policemen/women to deal with such situations. And they need to start using modern technology in investigations.
