Re: AS Monaco superteam
Chelsea and City cannot buy him because you can only buy 100% of a player's right in the EPL. Falcao is partially owned by investors. Atleti would need to buy out all the investors first and then sell him to a EPL club, which they cannot afford. It was too complicated, which is why no EPL team had made a serious offer to Atleti... also the reason why Spurs backed off from Damiao in the winter mercato.
Also, 50 mil gross taxed at 50% = 25 mil. Monaco is giving him 50 mil net. 50 mil is still massively superior to 25 mil. He's 27 remember, not 22. It's his last big contract and he's only been getting great money for 2 years.
Besides, Monaco is going to be in CL in 2 years and be a threat.
Edit: City are not exactly a CL threat although they play in it lol. They get destroyed in pool play.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
I'm not blaming Monaco at all, hell I'll be routing for them next season and it would be nice to see them in Europe again.
When they got relegated I was pretty disappointed. So if anyone thinks I have an anti-Monaco agenda they can stop.
What I am saying is that Falcao as an individual is showing a lack of ambition, He's been considered one of the best strikers in world football for a few years now and he's not even had a game in the CL. And a lot of this is down to him and his personal club choices.
To me, that's not showing a great deal of ambition.

He's not young... that's the issue. he's 27. And it's not like he's had a great wage for years. At atleti, he only makes 4.5 mil and didn't even make 2 mil at Porto. This is really his first huge contract. He has to cash in.

This is what football's been reduced to Simply waste time at the club that's nurtured and stood by you for X amount of years, until it's time to "cash in"

After getting dismantled 7-0 over two legs in Europe, you have the testicular fortitude to talk about failure?Donuts wrote:I know right he should of signed for Arsenal or City one of those failing clubs in European competition, shame on him.

I think Falcao rather win trophies rather then go to a downhill club who considers 4th place an accolade.Lex wrote:After getting dismantled 7-0 over two legs in Europe, you have the testicular fortitude to talk about failure?Donuts wrote:I know right he should of signed for Arsenal or City one of those failing clubs in European competition, shame on him.

Did anyone even want to buy him because of his drinking problems?
And Tony Adams is a symbol of Arsenal, I doubt any of these players that are moving around have such strong ties to their club as Adams had. They stuck by him after his drinking problems, I don't think he had a host of top clubs chasing his signature after that issue so staying Arsenal had to have been the best option.

Joining a club fresh out of ligue 2 to win trophies. Seems legit
You must be extremely naive if you think Falcao is moving to Monaco to win trophies. Specially after he just won the CDR last week at Atletico. Which is a trophy btw.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
so
still look shat, need moar players. they spend too much on James, they could have sign two quality players for 45 millions. anyway, Mendes is screwing them and as long as they keep spending he will be happy. they are not making the CL with that team.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
I know people here like to go against the popular opinion on a lot of things but now people are going against the idea that working your way up into the CL is ambitious. This is just flat out stupid, I can't believe what i'm reading.
Yes you're right, joining a club then getting them to CL football, leaving for another club and getting them to CL football only to bail for a newly promoted team is the height of ambition. Next time you see a young talent join Barcelona or whatever I hope you all moan at him for showing lack of ambition.
"Oh he's only doing it for the trophies, he could have joined Anji makachakakahalah and made more money. What a lack of ambition"
Joke.

Valdes
Corchia-Mangala or Isimat-Mirin-Carvalho-Coentrao (18 mil rumored)
Mbia-Moutinho
Rodriguez-Ocampos-Menez
Falcao
That's what it's going to look like when it's over or close to it
