Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Thiago is possibly the most overrated player around at present, he's done very little to warrant the massive praise he gets.
Barca fans think he's amazing, but it's more about debasing Cesc's ability than promoting Thiago's.

I'm really trying my best not to get too excited over the possibilty of him joining Utd(just incase it doesn't happen), but if he does.........I'm gonna explode with ****

I think he'll stay tbh. Xavi is 34 this season and Cex can't play the Xavi-role properly.
Just using United for a raise.

The Badger, you're totally right.
From a Barca fan, thoroughly overrated!!! Tries things he has absolutely no business trying... The worst part is, and it's extremely obvious to see if you're objective, he thinks he's FAR BETTER than he actually is. In his mind, he's Ronaldihno. And you can actually see the ridiculous shit he tries from time to time, and how far away he misses. He's probably the most (over) confident footballer to ever live.
He can follow all the rest and leave to somewhere for guaranteed playing time as far as I'm concerned. And people can talk all the crap they like, the reality is... he's not even close to ready for starting for a Barcelona caliber team. Talented? Yes. Top tier midfielder able to marshall a top 10 squad? You must be joking. Sorry but having "one or two good months" doesn't buy my loyalty.
Better than Fabregas? Haha, do you people watch football? A clever trick or two does not make a footballer.
Let him leave and come back in 5-6 years when he's actually good, and with any luck... he'll take Pedro with him.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Just curious, as I haven't been following this saga too closely:
Is the general feeling that Thiago is just using his potential move away from the club as leverage to get into the first team/a pay raise?
The English media seem desperate for him to be United's first major signing of the summer. I'm just not so sure Barca will let go of him with Xavi's age and him seemingly on the cusp of a break-out season.

Thiago's father has been running his mouth since before his son had even joined the first team squad. He was publicly criticizing the transfer of Fabregas because his son would see limited game time. Then Thiago himself said something along the lines of: "I would lie if I said I want to be successful at Barca, I want to be successful in football." Then Guardiola promised and gave him lots of playing time (mainly because he altered the formation to 3-4-3 and could afford to play 5924 midfielders at the same time). Then Thiago was all smiles and happy, saying he never really thought about leaving. Now that Pep and the 3-4-3 are gone and Thiago hasn't been the first name on the team sheet under Tito he's kicking up a fuss again. Tito however doesn't care. He told the player that he can't promise him more playing time for next season yet, that his time is yet to come and that Thiago should decide for himself if he wants to stay or leave.

Just Barca fans trying to talk him down and say he's a scrub so they can call him overrated and shite when he is playing for United
they just trying to make themselves feel better about him leaving.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Fingers crossed this transfer goes through as the link up play between Thiago, Kagawa and RVP has already got me drooling.
The thing that confuses me with this transfer is the media haven't really jumped on the story and run with it, the papers have had various bits but that's about it really.

Don't know what to believe with this transfer anymore, actually I don't know if there is even a transfer even happening. Twitter has a lot to answer for, three summers in a row have been ruined by twitter rumours of Sniejder and Hazard signing and this summers seems to be Thiago.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Florentino Perez left the door open for Thiago... saying that the new manager is the decision-maker. If he wants him and the player wants to join, then he'd do it.
That would be epic lol.

If he goes to united hes stupid. Moyes is new to manchester and hes taking a risk. The bpl is not like la liga and he is not a physical midfielder I dont see it. He should get a pay raise ajd stay. If he does leave barca are the stupidest ones from this deal because they will be losing a gem for pennies.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Barca already have another gem in the making => Sergi Samper. He is the TRUE heir to Xavi, not a AM / CM mix like Thiago who does a bit of both.

I don't believe in that not much of physical midfielder nonsense.
Makes it seem like the bpl is too physical. And certain players can't cut it

I have been saying this for ages..... England isn't anywhere near as physical as people make out.
The real change new players have to acclimatise to is the pace of the league which is vastly quicker than any other league.
I doubt Thiago would have a problem anyway.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
You can tackle through people if you touch the ball first... doesn't matter if you take out the player hard after the ball. Also, a lot of crap is allowed on set pieces with guys wrestling. Only seen this in EPL and Ligue 1. In other leagues (especially La Liga), the attacking players are protected.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
Doesnt matter really. United will use the ferrari as a fiat lol...
Their entire play is wing oriented and Thiago will never become as developed as Xavi playing in that system. To improve you need to be put on a more demanding role and frankly the midfield role of MANU is far far far far less demanding/challenging than that of Barcelona midfield.

Re: #6 - Thiago Alcántara
People who think Thiago would be a better replacement than cesc in xavi's role are deluded . Thiago is a goal scoring attacking midfielder, he doesn't have the patience and intelligence to play xavi's role. Cesc is the future .

you know...we did change managers, ever think are style of play might change....or that we have used excessive wing play to cover for our lack of creativity in midfield over the past few seasons.
might be a reason why we are pursuing Thiago ya think?

You played through the wings when you had Carrick and Scholes and Keane/Scholes/Veron.
