'won today'? I don't know what this is, maybe someone said 'the wrong team won today' before.

Obesenel Mehssi refers to people thinking Messi is fatter, though its actually that he did bulking and work on his upper body strength in preseason. Its accentuated by the problematic Barca shirts... which collect sweat and unattractively hang from/stick to the body.

Firstly, 'football won today' is a popular phrase, not a phrase of Xavi.

Secondly, if your team deserved to win and you were superior I see no reason why saying that is wrong.

Humble? Yes, the man is probably the most humble footballer I know of.

Respectful? It depends on your idea of respect, and also what you can take. He speaks truths. People forget that the only reason why footballers ever say anything is because the media ask them questions to get answers from them. You never see the questions in news articles, just random isolated quotes. When Xavi is asked things, he replies honestly. The only time I believe Xavi has actually stepped across the line is the infamous 'Cesc is suffering' quote... which was again, horribly drawn out of context and the Barca media was pestering the Barca players for months. Regardless, his answer to his question did cross the line because he revealed personal and confidential information about a friend and a player from another club. It is obvious Cesc was suffering, but he shouldn't have said it. The important thing is, Xavi apologised in a couple of days. A sign of true class and humility in my eyes.
