Why is PL so much popular than the other leagues?

Compared with LL, Bundes, Serie A. None of the leagues are close to the Prem in terms of viewers, fanbase, coverage etc. The difference between PL and the other 3 leagues is that, in the other leagues you only have 2-3 top teams who gets attention around the world. In the Prem, EVERY club gets attention, when mid-table clubs like Swansea and Newcastle buys players, then its big news.

I think there's 3 reasons:

1. The english language. Everybody can understand it.

2. 6 clubs who gets lot of attention in the media. Marquee-teams: Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Spurs... In Spain there's only 2, in Germany also only 2, in Italy the big 3.

3. Most big games. SKY Sports has been really good with the "Super Sunday" format. You dont see a "Super Sunday" in any other league. There's a big game every week.

There's ton of famous personalities in the league. Has always been in the PL era. Mou, Fergie, Ronaldo, Henry, Gerrard. Miles ahead of the other countries.

The only reason is better marketing.

How many people in the Asian market have German, Italian, French or Spanish as their second, or even first language?

Because the EPL has more top teams than any other league.

Marketing (thank you sky) and the Engish language, and is by far the best presented league in terms of aestethics.

This is definitely the main reason, but perhaps not the only. Language is important too.

As for the other reasons:
1. This is a valid point. Although, I don't think language plays a role in itself. Rather, it assists with marketing in other English-speaking countries. People in English-speaking countries can more readily relate to English things, especially if they have English heritage. Some people are naturally apprehensive about foreign things, so sharing the same language is an important thing that they can identify with. The widespread teaching of the English language in non-English speaking countries isn't that relevant because EPL games will always be covered by commentators in the native language. E.g. In Italy they have Italian commentators

2. That's complete crap. The categorisation of so-called "marquee teams" in the OP is completely subjective. Why is Tottenham a marquee team in the EPL, but Roma not a marquee team in Serie A? No reason, completely subjective.

3. I'm pretty sure most leagues have a Super Sunday or something similar. FYI, Serie A had a super Sunday on radio even before TV broadcasting of games was commonplace.

4. The personalities point ties back into the advertising. The marketing is why you think the EPL has bigger personalities than other leagues. It's really ignorance to suggest that the EPL is miles ahead than other leagues in this respect. Especially when one of the names you mentioned (Mourinho) has also coached in 3 other leagues. Zamparini, Balotelli, Cassano, De Laurentiis, Berlusconi, etc. The list could go on and on...

i don't think language is that important because when i lived in france they had EPL shows in french & it was more popular than the ligue 1 show

Marketing mostly. English language is a factor but tbh all the other leagues get English commentary in channels worldwide.

Lets be honest, Spurs gets much more coverage than Roma.

History, Club-size, i think they are at the same level.

I still remember in the late 90s when Serie A was still considered the bigger league and yet the EPL was a far more polished product, and while night matches were unwatchable in Serie A due to smoke from fireworks, EPL matches had a far superior picture/sound/environment that made up for the less impressive football.

Well, I didn't mention the language as in a way it doesn't matter - if the BuLi would have better marketing, it would be presented with a proper English language show as well for the international market.

And that everybody is told "The BPL is the best league of the world" - guess what, this is the marketing slogan by Sky. If people hear stuff like that often enough, they will believe it. So kudos to the BPL marketing people!

Number 1 has a big impact. The British Empire succeeded at the right time and colonized North America, which in itself gives them free advertising year around. They can live on that for hundreds of years to come, easy. Ofc the league has quality also, but thats a given innit.

History plays a part. Italy came out bad from WW2, a war they never should have been involved in considering the econonic situation in the south (problem till this day). Italy was devided for too long, and did not get to colonize areas of the world like others did. I can only immagine how well La Liga must fare in South America, and the PL in India etc.

Roma has been such a waste of opportunity for years. It should have had a stadia that looks like the Colosseo ffs. Immagine the marketing.

Better overall talent. The best players aren't stockpiled at 1 or two clubs. More historic clubs, far better fan support and excellent television coverage.

If it was down to language alone La Liga would be by far the most watched League, Chinese Mandarin if you wanted to be technical.
