Line-ups: Juventus-Lazio

Lazio seek revenge against Juventus for the Super Cup thrashing, as Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba take on Hernanes and Miroslav Klose.

The two sides met only two weeks ago for the Italian Super Cup, which saw Juve emerge 4-0 winners from the Stadio Olimpico.

That humiliation still weighs heavily on the Aquile and Coach Vladimir Petkovic noted this was the perfect opportunity to prove “the gap isn’t that big.”

Stefano Mauri is still suspended awaiting an appeal verdict on his six-month ban for being aware of a potential fix.

Lorik Cana, Mickael Ciani, Libor Kozak, Bruno Pereirinha and Vinicius are not 100 per cent fit, while Abdoulay Konko is unavailable.

Klose leads the attack with support from Antonio Candreva, Hernanes and summer signing Lucas Biglia. The German international has never managed to put a goal past the Bianconeri.

Juventus have had a blistering start to the campaign and particularly Tevez, who netted against both Lazio and Sampdoria.

He again starts up front with Mirko Vucinic, as Fernando Llorente is struggling to settle into his new Serie A environment.

Pogba steps in for the injured Claudio Marchisio in midfield.

Last season Federico Marchetti was heroic here to earn Lazio a 0-0 draw, but they haven’t won in Turin since 2002-03.

Conte held his subs late again. I don't like that. But this was a great performance. Lazio only generated chances from long shots. Buffon did not do well on the goal, he pushed it towards the middle rather than away from the goal.

Vucinic grew after his goal. Great goal and great dummy for Tevez to score. Tevez is fantastic again. Pogba and Asamoah too. It was a really great performance as a team.

Once again my only concern is the lack of sufficient times the bench get.

They're going to play a big part, and it's better to prepare them now rather than hoping that they instantly slot in when required to.


That being said, what a classy performance.

Vucinic still haven't impressed me, his goal was nice though.

Buffon looked extremely shaky during the whole match.

But lets look at the positives, great performance by pretty much the whole team, especially Vidal Pogba and Tevez

and Conte doesnt bring in llorente. if there was ever a good time t bring him on, it was in this match.it doesnt help his confidence. disappointed in conte.

He does work Devi.. But sometimes you just cant see him. He is the one who does these precise crosses to Lich/ASA from time to time.

rumors are that Conte and Marotta are at loggerheads over Llorente....

he claims llorent cannot fit into his game plan well, Marotta wants him to use llo...

I like Conte but he has bad player management, his usual "adjusting" nonsense is becoming rather comical.....

I foresaw this in preseason when I said Llorente's poor performances in preseason will affect his eventual position in the team cos Conte is the kind who once he gets his starting 11 will play them 95% of the season but I was chided by many including aquitescu.....


i feel really bad for Llo tbh, choosing us over the likes of Arsenal and Spurs only to be treated poorly by Conte...

Thoughts:

Tevez is a beast and worthy of the #10 shirt.  He is exactly the player we need to lead us to victory over Real, Bayern and Barca...

Pogba and Vidal look set to become the best midfield duo in the world.  In time they could become one of the greatest midfield duo's ever.  If Pogba does become a more attacking player in the near future then Pogba, Vidal and Marchisio can become a phenomenon and virtually unstoppable at all levels, including Europe...

Bonucci has turned into a world class sweeper.  He is becoming a Gaetano Scirea and Franco Baresi clone.  He is world class and we have Conte to thank for that...

Pirlo is the engine to this team.  He makes those little plays that a great regista makes that allow the other players around him to do their thing, thus allowing our Ferrari to take off...

Vucinic drives you crazy for 60 minutes but then makes a great play and looks world class for 2 minutes.  He is frustrating to watch but a real talent when his head is on straight...

Conte does not use his subs very well.  If their is one weakness to Conte it is this.  If he can ever fix this weakness of his and learn to use his bench better than he truly can become a legendary coach...

P.S in Al Jazeera sports, Conte was asked about Llorente, He said the Llorente will play when he deserves it and works hard for it

ROFL... He is not worth wearing Ale's number... Never compare a Juve legend to a player who joined at the age of 29 and will play a maximum of 4 years... But, I agree he is a beast , and I really want to see him more on the pitch. The good thing is that Juve are not Tevez-dependent!
He did impress me ... And concerning ur other comments, I said that Llo is not going to have a good year...

Great match.All players played good especialy Pogba,Vidal and Tevez but i was totaly impressed by Bonucci long and classy passes.We may consider him as a vice-Pirlo,im serious.I really wanted to see Llorente tonight,also we should give our bench players more playing time not just 5 min.With this big victory we proved that we are two steps ahead teams of Lazio level.
