He's really fast and strong physically, but still for now I put Adama and Deulofeu in the same category as Tello. Sure they're more talented than Tello, big potential but still not sure if they'll make it at Barca!
I've watched matches for "Lee" in Al-Kass Tournament, he's the real thing...

Kapotum came on in the 2nd half?
Its offical then, I am mixing up two players.
One black CM started the game for us and it was him who I felt was pretty bad. The 2nd black CM who came on was much better.

We did quite well but we missed the presence of our first choice CB (hayden), our defensive midfielder (kamara) due to suspension, and our creative talisman (Crowley). Without them as to be expected we were vulnerable defensively and blunt in the final third. Nonetheless, there were positives, our first years pleguezuelo and zelalem looked comfortable already ahead of their age group and will surely make improvements next season, akpom and Olsson also showed promise.
Is he good ?

Re: Official UEFA Youth league thread
I happened to watch the CL semi final between FC Barcelona and Schalke 04 this week and it was a pretty entertaining match.
Unfortunately, Barca managed to win 1:0 against Schalke, but both teams were really playing nice football, Barca maybe a bit more technical as expected, and Schalke with more athleticism.
By the way, the young Schalke GK Timon Wellenreuther looked very good, so the Knappenschmiede production line continues with good GKs, too.

Benfica are a decent side, look dangerous in the final third despite it being 2-0. Not better than Arsenal though.

Fantastic end, Munir with a goal from the halfway line to make it 3-0.
Sad to see the Benfica kids so visibly heart broken but none the less, this was a good tournament and some of the guys did very well.

Very weak Barca side overall. Your 3 kids at the front are outstanding considering their age, but the rest? meh.. As a team Benfica were much much better. This Barca has no "Barca" DNA as you like to call it, it's playstyle is the complete opposite of the senior Barca team.

They did indeed. We had a player sent off in the first 10 minutes and the reff handed Banfica penalty after penalty so that they could win. Football lost

Yeah, the midfield is crap. La Masia creates more quality forwards than midfielders these days.

Re: Official UEFA Youth league thread
I dunno about "these days", dont jump the gun.
Ordinarily Samper would play in this, there was the couple midfield kids Arsenal stole (of this age group) plus another guy who's name continues to escape me but didnt play today for some reason who is real quality.
Plus its just one group.

Very weak he says. Then the rest of loser teams are utter garbage that should be put to death like horses to end their footballing misery?
This team plays Barça DNA, we had the most clear chances and dominated the game. We build up from the back and had a lot of ball, but Benfica also had a lot of ball because they were losing and because they also try to play. Benfica shooted more because they were losing, but most of them were not really clear shots. If there were posession data I'm sure it was even.
The midfield of this Barça Juvenil A is not weak at all, Kaptoum and Enguene are very good and Ortega is solid and provides balance. Plus the wingers are all quality: Adama, Moha, Maxi Rolon, Ebwelle and Pedro Godoy.
And we won the tournament without 5 U-19 players that are already in Barça B: Samper, Dongou, Sandro, Grimaldo and Frank Bagnack. With them it would have been a walk in the park.
And without Sanabria, Toral and Bellerin, who left relatively recently.

Possession stats fairly equal? I disagree. I saw Benfica dominate the midfield most of the game, your passing was woeful in general. And you won (and deserved to) because your forwards are in another level, especially Traure, (or whatever he was called) he made the first two goals out of nowhere. Benfica didnt have many great chances, that's true (altough they had more chances). But they played a much better passsing game than you did.

That's the problem with tournaments at this age group, the best talents have already left it behind, it's more an opportunity for the slow developers to play. Like in England, the best talents usually jump from u17s with the NT, straight to the u21s, completely bypassing u19/u18 football

No, not really. Arsenal played with all their U19 players including an almost first team player like Gnabry and all the U19 reserves players (Arsenal reserves = barça B). Ajax in previous tournaments also fielded many U19 players already in their first team, and Inter Milano won Next Gen with basically their primavera team (primavera = barça B). So no, not all the teams do this. Most teams don't actually.

Well, I can see you didn't watch the game as Traore wasn't even involved in the first goal, it was Munir who created that. Yes, Benfica probably passed a bit better and had a bit more possession, but it was fairly equal and the result of them losing.

Maybe you got me wrong or I used the wrong words, don't know. I didn't mean that many other clubs do it but that there are some other clubs that do it aswell.

Re: Official UEFA Youth league thread
Well, the Schalke kids had some players missing, too, who'd have been eligible still.
They played
Timon Wellenreuther; Daniel Koseler, Marvin Friedrich, Sebastian Hedlung, Maurice Neubauer; Maurice Multhaup, Miles Müller; Pascal Itter, Leroy Sané, Florian Pick; Felix Platte // Subs: Donis Avdijaj, Hendrik Lohmann, Tim Bodenröder
So they omitted Kaan Ayhan, Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka who already play with the big boys.
(BTW, interestingly 8 of the Schalke U19 were indeed born in the vicinity of Gelsenkirchen, 5 came from a bit farther away like Karlsruhe and Kassel, and only one of them doesn't come from Germany, but from Sweden. Out of curiousity, I checked the Barca kids who played in the semi, and they had 8 Spaniards, 1 Argentine, 1 Nigerian, 1 Moroccan, 2 Cameroonians. Dunno who comes from the vicinity of Barca, sorry, someone else would have to look that up.)

Where does where they were born matter? Surely their football education is the only real relevance?
