City naming stadium fiasco
Apparently City's decision to rename the stadium Etihad Stadium has backfired as Etihad is arabic for Union/United.

Yup, I can understand City fans getting upset. Makes the whole club look a little silly, naming your stadium like something that resembles the other major team in town...

Re: City naming stadium fiasco
Etihad is Arabic for Union.
Trust me no-one is upset.
We're laughing all the way to the bank.
Incidently once the training ground has been built and the world class conference facilities and hotel within the Etihad campus there's rumours these will be sponsored by Ferrostaal.
All within the rules of Uefa Fair play.
Of course they'll close this huge loophole after we've exploited it to the max.
Happy days.

Makes your deal with Emirates look like chicken feed doesn't it.
As Barnum said...there's one born every minute or in your case David Dein.

Not really.
There's a few great gooners on here I have plenty of time for like Realgunner.
There's also a few who are getting a little worried.

Imagine the deal falling through because of FFP and they named themselves Manchester United for nothing

Your "team" can't even do something as trivial and straightforward as naming a stadium correctly and somehow we're the suckerschemicalboy99 wrote:As Barnum said...there's one born every minute or in your case David Dein.
Might be time to revise your logic

To be fair, Etihad is more along the lines of union/unity, but it's still close enough to United

Re: City naming stadium fiasco
I find is strange Arsenal is also complaining, it is the norm these days to sell the naming rights of a stadium Allianz, Emirates and Reebok among others have their names on Stadiums in England and Germany.
There is nothing wrong with the deal imo, Etihad is already on front the kits of the team, so it wouldn't make much difference if they are on the fronts of their stadium.

I hear Inter might name their new stadium the latin word for youth.
In honor of their promising academy.

Excellent.
Then you'll know Etihad is a noun and United is an adjective.
Etihad=Union/Unity
Mutthid=United

Did some looking around.
I confirm what you are saying is infact correct.
Etihad does NOT mean united.
