Its a disease. Anybody can suffer from it. Its usually a chemical imbalance of sorts.

He has always showed all the signs for it even back to the 2005 confederations cup where he was Brilliant. I'm sure the clingers dont help matters either. Joana always put on a nice face to the media, but does anybody really believe she ever tried to make things better for him?

Luis Fabiano may have been insane, but at least in the end you know Juliana cares about him. Joana could give two craps about Adriano, and his friends are the same way.

You can medicate and make lifestyle choices for depression. Plenty of legendary people suffered from it. As an example, Abraham Lincoln fought clinical depression his whole life... drinking alcohol is like a poison for it.

Which is where it simply does not work with the lifestyle Adriano was living.

As a professional footballer parasites and the worst elements cling to you, and even more so when you are depressed and have a low image of Self-worth the way Adriano did.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, you make your choices. It's not like anyone forced him to live the way he did. He gave into his demons.

Some people just cant drink. Its all about moderation. Though as a professional athlete alcohol will damage fitness. Footballers should drink when they are retired.. Though most people drink wine anyway everyday

Wine can be as damaging as any other drink though if moderation isn't used.

Adriano is a cautionary tale, one of many, of what happens when discipline gives way to decadence.

Yeah McLewis... there's a lot of health problems in France for example. You have a lot of smoker + heavy wine drinkers + rich foods. When i moved back here, some of my friends that are same age as me look 10 years older.

Anything that stresses your organs more than normal is going to damage you... it's pretty simple.

Not true.... you only die once, you live everyday

Well Adriano's mental problems are not just the result of a medical depression, his father was murdered in 2005 (?) and he never recovered after that incident. Adriano was the last footballer i marked out for whenever he touched the ball, I watched him from day one when he scored against Madrid in his debut all the way to the confederations cup. It was downhill from there though so it was pretty sad watching him decline like that

Adriano was not only about strength, he was a very good technically too. One of the best left-foots in history, Bale reminds me of his shooting style.

I thought Balotelli would become something close to resembling Adriano as he has the built and strength to along with the technique and power. But for some reason Balo has stagnated hardcore atm.
