Absolutely.

If you look at the revenue of Milan compared with, say Arsenal, (before the recent EPL TV deal) Milan was earning around the same in both commercial, merchandising and TV broadcasting areas. The traditional weakness of every Serie A club has always been matchday revenue. Arsenal slaughters Milan (and just about every other club in the world) on matchday revenue. This is not because they have any more dedicated supporters than Milan or a bigger stadium, but because Milan does not have control over the pricing and the quality of the seating in the stadium. Most of Arsenal's revenue on matchday comes from premium clients in corporate boxes, VIP seats and with catering that goes well beyond fries and hot dogs... and people will pay through the nose for it.

Meanwhile, Milan are paying to use the San Siro. So Milan are already behind. On top of that, the San Siro is in desperate need of renovation and it's cavernous confines are rarely full. The point being not that Milan do not have significant support (our attendance is one of the best in the league, even with this crappy season), but that there is no impetus from the City of Milan to change the stadium to become more luxurious and accommodate these premium supporters.

It is not so simple as it seems, Italy will never be a normal country.

All wants new stadiums but noone does it because the Italian bureaucracy is the worst in the world , the costs are enormous not only for the building of stadiums etc

it is not only a problem amounts for bulding a stadium , you must also to buy the building lease for that land, because it is a land owned to City of Milano . this building lease expires after 99 years, then you can renew if you want.

In 2003 Juve bought lease right (for 99 years as I said, so it will be renewed in 2102) where to locate the stadium for only 20 milions. . A favorable price which aroused also some controversy.

Instead for example the City of Milan asked for Expo area 300 milions Very Happy

Pratically 300 mln to buy the builing lease / the land where to locate the new stadium (without including the amounts to build the stadium .. therefore Milan would have spent much more 'than 300 mln in that case )

Arsenal slaughters German clubs too in matchday revenue so the comparison to them doesnt exactly hold an accurate measure here.

If i'm not mistaken,even normal tickets are expensive at the Emirates.Purchasing power of English people is high.Even at the Stamford Bridge which holds 45k generates 80m matchday revenue yearly.Compared to Juventus for instance who have a similar capacity but only generates half of what Chelsea do.

So I dont think those VIP seats/Sky Boxes alone are contributing to such a high income.These conditions are not applicable to Italy since they're not as financially well off as compared to England for instance.Imo its also a factor to consider,i remember Agnelli speaking about it a few months ago.

What is undeniable is that the premium market is untapped in Serie A. Milan is a city full of tourists and foreign business people. There is money there just waiting to be taken. Not only that, but a stadium with modern features also encourages families to attend.

yes his transfer was really positive for this squad , we are finding continuity and a player as Kovacic ia at his ease with another player that talks his same "language" .. it's not same thing to play with Taider or Kuzmanovic..

7 points in matches away against Fiorentina,Roma and Verona ... I wouldn't have imagined it just 2 months ago

he was very good allso against Torino of Cerci and Immobile tbh ... he is so inconsitent, for me on paper he is not a scrub , but he's capable both moments of great brilliance and total darkness...he is affected by the different moments of the team,matter of personality...

His contract expires in 2015 and I don't think it will be renewed. Objective is to earn money from him so.

Antonio Cassano is an absolute genius. Not only this man has lead Donadoni's excellent side to the 5th spot of Serie A, but has looked better than his previous stints in Milan and Inter after undergoing Donadoni's strict regiment. Technically perfect. Would be an absolute crime if Cesare did not call him up for the World Cup.

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said the fan protest “hurts” and defended Mario Balotelli ahead of the Parma game.

Hundreds of ultras waited outside San Siro with banners and jeered at the team bus, which drove in round the back entrance.

The Curva Sud will be left empty in today’s Serie A showdown with Parma, click here for the line-ups.

“Of course it hurts, especially as people ought to remember the journey of this squad. I was looking at the statistic and over the last decade we’ve been the only Italian side regularly in Europe,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

“We hope not to miss out on Europe next season, but if it does happen then it won’t be the end of the world.

“I am disappointed and it’s certainly not pleasing to see the fans against the team and part of the club, but I continue smiling.”

A statement released by the Curva Sud specified Galliani and Balotelli were among the main targets of their protest.

“I am very happy that we signed Balotelli and the fans ought to be too. If the club hadn’t snapped him up last January, then Milan would not have qualified for the Champions League.

“He helped us out this season too and has been here for just over a year, scoring more goals than anyone else.

“Unfortunately, people only remember the last game. People have a very short memory in football. Balotelli has done a lot and will do even more, while I don’t think a protest is the way of getting the best out of the players.”

Galliani was asked about Clarence Seedorf pinning the blame on predecessor Massimiliano Allegri this week.

“I think that the media enjoy pitting everyone against everyone else. I defended Allegri, who did well for three years, then the club – including me, as it’s not true that I didn’t want Seedorf – decided after 22 points in the first half of the season a change was necessary. Allegri understood that too.”

So out of touch with reality. He needs to stop being so defensive and admit that Milan are simply very poor right now.
