Surely:
RvP upfront with Rooney in behind.
No place for Welbeck.

Welbeck on the left. Rather him than Valencia or Young.

I agree, not counting the CB's, I feel like at least on paper thats Utd's best side.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
Confirmed #LFC team v @ManUtd: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge
Confirmed #LFC subs v @ManUtd: Jones, Sakho, Cissokho, Lucas, Coutinho, Moses, Aspas
__
Not sure how we'll approach it. We'll either go looking to dominate the midfield, (it's 3v2 in our favour after all, 3v1 really with Fellaini there) or look to score an early goal and then hit them on the counter.
Is Mata on the right?

Manchester United : De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Evra; Mata, Fellaini, Carrick, Januzaj; Rooney, van Persie
Liverpool : Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge
So Coutinho on bench and a midfielder in more in pitch.
Vidic plays and not Smalling as it was for WBA (for future matters)
Januzaj and not Valencia or Young, I did not expect this by Moyes lol

Pleased with that lineup. Vidic at the back is my only concern. Other than that, no complaints from me.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
I can see why you say that Gil but who over? Januzaj or Mata?
That's the problem here if you start Welbeck you are also dropping someone who probably should start.
Shame for them its the only area of the pitch where they have that problem

Robes, Smalling is not on the bench either, I think he's injured.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
^ RVP lol
Whilst RVP is a good finisher, it's clear he's not working with Rooney in the line up.
Mata behind RVP, with Welbeck on the right hand side would of been a lot better.
Rooney and RVP don't link up, like at all. (Watch them score against us now. :S)

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
For me, Welbeck should not play on either flank. Despite his lack of goals, his most effective position is second striker imo.
Probably the best thing he does is make runs down the channels, dragging central players out of position if they want to follow him.
Play him on the wing and those runs arent dragging the same players away.

I'm not complaining.
I'd be a lot less optimistic about this game if SAF was manager, but it's David f*cking Moyes.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
Is it really the best United lineup though? Moyes getting a bit adventurous here. Januzaj and Mata will offer no defensive contribution. I was anticipating Valencia to start. Poverty CB pairing as well. As long as we completely mark out Rooney and attack through the flanks, we should have no problem.
inb4 United thrash us 4-0.

Completely agree but considering who Man Yoo have the wings are the most likely position for him to start.
No way Moyes would have the balls to drop Roonay or Van Persie, although i could see him dropping Mata or Januzaj and have a ready made excuse.
We need dat work rate son.

He played on the left hand side against Liverpool at Anfield back when SAF was in charge.
He actually did really well, stretched our defence and got in behind quite a bit. His finishing on the other hand?

To be fair, both teams were go guns blazing.
Both defences are fragile.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V8
On paper from 1 to 11 its clearly their best eleven.
Whether it works out to be like that in reality is another thing entirely.
I'll guess we'll have to wait and see

I was not saying he has never played well out wide, that wasnt really my point. I was just saying where I think he is best.
