A.Madrid better think about third spot now...Valencia is better than them atm,

Valencia have an advantage in the sense they are only active in one competition as opposed to 2 also the Valencia coach is mad with his rotations. I don't think a single player besides Parejo, Alves and the defence has a cemented starting spot. Not only does he keep them on their toes but he keeps them fresh too

Atleti ran out of 1-0s. It was going to end sooner or later. They were on a mad 1-0 run last season it was unbelievable

The best keeper in the world (Arguable with De Gea and Neuer) and the top scorer in the EPL.

Not only are both great players but they were suited perfectly to how Atletico want's to play.

I am a La Liga fan so I watched most of there games last and this year.  There defense last year with Thibaut Courtois behind them was one of the most confident units I have ever seen.  

They truly believed they could win every game 1-0 and shut out any team and then with Costa up top they didn't need to win 1-0 and could play how ever you wanted them to.  Chelsea packed it in against them in the second leg got scored upon opened up a bit and got hammered Barca style with Lavish passing, ball control and goals.

They were really a unique team last year.  But thin, and couple the losses of Thibaut Courtois and Costa with Injuries and they just are not the same team.

Courtois isn't that relevant. It makes a small difference because Moya wasn't even meant to be first choice before the season started and now he is and he is not on the same level as Courtois but that's a small detail. Their defensive record is more or less the same. Last season 21 goals conceded in 27 games, this season 23 goals in 27 games. Chelsea's defensive record has also not changed much with Courtois. Last season 22 goals conceded after 28 games, this season 23. Little to do with individual personnel. Last season they were running on fumes, grinding out 1-0 after 1-0 which was never sustainable, especially after winning stuff and dropping down to 99 % intensity instead of 100 %, which inevitably happens to all winning teams.
