At risk of stirring things further, Howard Nurse of BBC Sport claims that Fabregas is NOT on Louis van Gaal's shortlist.

Loic Remy is pushing for a move to @Arsenal, according to a colleague of mine at Newcastle. He would be a good buy for Wenger

He (Mandzu) has much better workrate and more clinical too, he would be a great upgrade for Arsenal imo.

so much crap, Mandzukic clinical
He can score goals not doubt but like Giroud's he is hardly a goal scorer. Giroud is a grafter, he spent the second half off the season playing upfront alone without any support or service.

%OF Shots on target
Mandz 58.4-----35.8 Giroud
conversion rate
Mandz 23.4-----14.7 Giroud
little bit more efficient

i know placement of shots and risk they take shots be taken into context but still purely stats wise

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Mandzu isn't a headless chicken.
Giroud has looked horrible without support but who wouldn't, with that in mind, if we had proper runners available at all times like we could by investing in wingers then we'd be fine with Giroud and an addition to relieve/compete with him.
I would never swap Özil, definitely not for Cesc. Our record signing's position is safe especially when he's just about to enter the season he shows his true self in.

Where does Khedira fit in here ?
He is a weird one, not quite a defensive mid, not quite a centre mid

Definitely the most defensive and powerful midfielder we'd have had since Gilberto.

Don't know why but after the game I just had a feeling that we are going to sign Benz this summer. Really think it'll happen. The stars are aligning

Pair him with Ramsey in midfield. The thing with Khedira is that we could use him as our main defensive midfielder or as a box to box midfielder to replace Ramsey at times when/if Wilshere is out so we won't see Arteta-Flamini play together again. Schneiderlin could do the same, Luiz Gustavo I fear not but as a defensive midfielder he's class.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Khedira is not coming to Arsenal to play as a sitter and you dont want to limit Ramsey's impact in final 3rd to allow Khedira play his natural game
really dont think its suitable partnership

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Why do you think that, Sina? He plays as one for Germany (albeit Löw wants him involved more in attack than we do, which is a good thing as you want him in defence) and he just did for Real Madrid in the CL final and he excelled there.
Khedira's natural play isn't box to box imo, managers play him as one because he can and these kind of players are rare... a bit like how Oxlade-Chamberlain is played as a RW and everyone assumes it's his natural position.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Khedira is mediocre on the ball. He isn't suited to a ball possession game. After he went off we improved for a reason. He brings physicality and stamina... Other than that not so much.

He isn't mediocre with the ball, he's actually very comfortable for a big physical guy.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
considering our options are limited i wouldnt mind him
if he was willing to play conservative role but you know with his relationship with Ozil he would want to make runs and get involved in attack
now that Ramsey has stepped up to another level i just want him to remain main man that takes advantage of Ozil presence and develop that understanding hence i see only a place for one of Khedira and Ramsey in the team
Just my opinion though
dont think wenger will try that but lets see as i stated i dont mind him at right price

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I agree that Ramsey should be our main man, obviously if he doesn't accept different roles then it's not worth it. Schneiderlin could just as easily be that guy for us.
Javi Martinez should be target no 1, see what his situation is, if there's nothing go for other targets: Khedira, Schneiderlin, Luiz Gustavo etc...

sportsczy wrote:They don't need to. FFP allowed them sign one player for a max of 60 mil euros. They signed Luiz for 49,5 mil Euros. Menez and Alex wages came off the books this summer, so they're not adding wages either.
No need for them to do anything unless they want to add more. They'd offload Marquinhos if a big offer came AND they had either Aurier or Alves tied up. Not before since he's a very good RB and they need cover at RB.
The guys that are truly on the sales block are Lavezzi, Jallet and Pastore. These are the 3. If they can get 40 mil for these 3 players, they'd turn around and trigger Griezmann's release clause imo.
So having spent 49.5m on Luiz, that leaves them with 10.5m (of the initial 60m). However, if as you suggested, they also sold Pastore and Lavezzi for, say, 35m, they'd be have 45.5m left from what they've been allowed to spend.
BUT, what I want to now is: are they prevented from spending any more as their limit is 60m?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Only pepe is worse than him in our entire squad when it comes to ball technique. Ramos and varane both or CBS are better on The ball than khedira.urbaNRoots wrote:He isn't mediocre with the ball, he's actually very comfortable for a big physical guy.

wish Sven was possible but even if it was i guess too injury prone to invest

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
No. They can spend as much as they sell after 60 million. Only restriction is that they can't go past the total wages of 2012-2013 season.SUPERCARTTS wrote:sportsczy wrote:They don't need to. And they have Lavezzi offers with a high of 22 million and Pastore offer at 27 million (according to rumors). So if they wanted to pull the trigger now, they could get 49 million. But until they have other players lined up, they won't. There's also a Barca offer of 40 million for Marquinhos too allegedly.

MYSTERY SHROUDS SECRET ARSENAL TARGET
Arsenal have sent a delegation to Madrid to hold talks with a mystery star player, The Insider can reveal.
The Gunners are closely pursuing a wide forward who Arsene Wenger and his scouts believe can be developed into a centre-forward.
OMG YOU'RE SIGNING BENZEMA.
Pretty sure the part in Bold is Defensive Midfielder though.Probs got confused.
