Philipp Lahm wrote a book that pissed off quite a few people, so it has to be worth a read I reckon.

Best football autobiography I ever read was by Tony Adams.

Absolute fantastic read and he told it like it was. His drinking culture while playing at the very top of the game.
His honestly was refreshing and the autobiography came when his career was over so told the whole story.

Recommended it to anyone who loves football.

not footballer books, but books about football

The Fix by Declan Hill is a great read, international best seller, goes into football match fixing from all across the world he tells his stories of his investigative journalism getting to know these fixers and how they do it.

Soccernomics by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski, another International Best Seller, the front cover reads "Why England loses, why Spain, Germany, And Brazil Win, And why the US, JAPAN, Australia, Turkey, and even Iraq, are destined to become the kings of the world's most popular sport"
does that make you want to read this book? i know it did for me

Football Biographies Empty Football Biographies

Post by fatman123 Sat May 24, 2014 1:15 pm

I've reading biographies for a while now as i find them really interesting but only recently ive been getting into reading biographies from people involved in football, thus far I've read the biographies of:

*SAF-you can probably read nearly the whole thing in daily mail etc articles about the book
*'arry Redknapp-it was 'triffic knowing i could read it and 'arry couldnt
*Carlo Ancelotti-more so a collection of stories then a bio, still a good read though
*Frank Lampard-he wrote it pre-abramovich so it was really interesting, probably not worthwhile if you dont like him or support Chelsea though
*Sven Goran Erikson-reading it atm, really enjoying it as i didnt know much about Sven pre the England job

I was wondering what other people on the forum had read and what you would recommend

I've only read the two - Thierry Henry: Lonely at the Top and Dennis Bergkamp: Stillness and Speed. Henry's is a traditional biography written by Phillipe Auclair that explores the difference between Henry's public and private personas, while Begkamp's was in an interview format. Both were very good reads, though Auclair did like to go off on the odd tangent.

I'll look for that one.

Roy Keane's is good. Footballer biographies are generally a load of badly written shit that are boring and dull with little of interest published.

THIRTY ONE - NIL by James Montague.

Again its a book on Football and not a football biography. James Montague is a British sports Journalist and this cool book here tells the fascinating story about 2014 World Cup Qualification of the so called minnows.

Outstandinggggggg!!! I mean Really really good.
Stories of war, of hope, of humiliation, of despair and finally of some rare triumphs these countries achieve and experience while they try to qualify for the World cup finals or in some cases simply to win a game. Proud

A must read! Smile 9/10
Small Negative about the book though is the lack of the story of Iraq and its qualification.
